Heres what my exhaust sounds like. I bought it like this, its a cat back 3" piping with an ebay muffler.
(its seems much, much louder in life. the mic doesn't pic up on the low rumble for some reason)

Not bad,, the mic sure picks up the crickets pretty good though:thumb:

It's sounds nice but it's shit like that is why car parts companies are going under. Greddy declared bankruptcy last wednesday because of people buying the cheap ebay knock-offs like this one.
I'm not trying to go off on you man but it's aggrivating that ebay is doing so well and companies that put so much time, effort, and money designing and testing real race cars are going under just because eveyone is trying to save a buck.
Vent off

Maybe Greddy should start pulling the name off of their products and start selling them as cheap knock-offs on EBAY? Then they would have both markets... no?

Oh then China would make knock-offs of the knock-offs... Then, we'd be screwed!!

I agree with you guys 100% about buying the real parts. Remember, I didn't put this on. It was something the previous owner did.

True and not true. Greddy USA is fine. Trust, Japan is the one hurting. They've been in debt to their investors since the late 90's. It's not because of Ebay. Beyond The Dyno Greddy USA Press Release

However, do not get me wrong. I hate eBay companies and I hate people who support them. And no offense OP, your exhaust looks & sounds cheap.

I agree that is horrible sounding and horrible looking. If you can't get a REAL Greddy or HKS exhaust at least get a Megan.

On the topic of Trust, I disagree with Red97Eclipseboy. 1998 was Trust/Greddy's highest selling year. It slowly went down from there. This was also about the time Ebay knock offs were starting to hit the market. Greddy also made the mistake of trying to make everyone happy by making parts that are CARB -legal and then selling to EVERYONE. Sorry, but that's not how I roll. I don't need extra resonators in my exhaust.

sry to go against everyone, but ebay has helped broke ass kids like me who wanna get their foot in the door as far as upgrading your car goes.. I didnt have $500 to pay for a greddy cat back for my Esi, which i would not wanna dump 500 dollars into at this point in my life.. $150 was a great price for a couple more hp and a great replacement for my rusting stock exhaust

i understand all the design and production that greddy put into their exhausts, but $500 into a 420A just isnt reasonable

LOL, Im tired of people knocking on Ebay products, just because it aint name brand doesn't mean anything, I have a Full custom 3" turbo back no cat, no resonator on my Galant Vr-4, with a Ebay Muffler N1 style, and Im sure It's still doing EXACTLY what the Greddy one is doing. Run your Car not your Mouth, Flame On.

I hate it when people refer to a simple canister type muffler as an N1 type. I don't believe the Apexi N1 muffler was the first of its kind, there were many other manufacturers that used a canister muffler. Greddy doesn't refer to the muffler they use as an N1. Neither does Tenabe or Megan Racing. Yet the knock offs we are referring to are ones that claim their style is of another, name brand company. Sort of stealing their design in which steals from their profits. Take a look at the E316G. It has gotten to the point where FP has to disclose on their website that the ones they sell are NOT knock offs that are commonly sold on EBAY. That's sad... It's effing FP, do you really think they would offer a knock off to the public and risk jeopardizing their reputation as turbo builders?

Who gives people the right to disassemble a product, copy the pieces, mass produce them and sell them as the same product? Search for Evo 3 16g on EBAY and tell me how many real ones you find. I know the arguement will be that our copyright and patent laws do not hold up overseas. Well, if they are being sold to Americans and being shipped to the US shouldn't that be questioned?

Don't get me wrong I do buy stuff off EBAY. Just not something that is claimed to be something other than it truly is. I just bought a FMIC on EBAY they didn't try to sell it to me claiming it to be a Griffin or Spearco core. So, I bought it knowing that it's not a knock off but just a cheap alternative.

Watch who you give your money to. This is a great reason our economic system in America is going to shits. Do you watch the news much? Too many jobs are being sent overseas and none of our money is actually staying here in America.

None of this applies to the OP since he bought the car with the exhaust already done to the car. And I would assume if the catback is custom, just the muffler is in question.

Support EBAY
Do not support EBAY knock offs.

Rant Over...

Sorry to burst your bubble guys, but that is how every company works. Its basic reverse engineering. I have worked with 3 MAJOR companies and that is exactly how they work as well. You see a product on the market that works well and you look at it and find out why it works so well and how you can make something close to it but for cheaper.

Maybe if Greddy/Trust didn't do things like sell a cat-back exhaust for $500 when I can go to a muffler shop and have the same thing made AND mounted for $250-300 they would still be in business. The ebay knock-offs came along and were selling similar products for less and what did Greddy do? They kept their prices high. Well it doesn't take long for the consumer to realize they can get the same thing for less, or hell, even buy the less quality knockoff and fix it with Greddy parts and still be under half the cost.

Greddy had bad business practices and that is why they went under over there.

If i could get a real greddy catback exhaust for $250-300 range I would definetly go the greddy way, over the $150 ebay one.

they maybe need to lower the prices

I agree all of the REAL companies sell their products WAY over priced it costs a fraction of that to manufacture that product. IMHO all of the companies need to lower their prices and i guarantee that people will buy their products more then the ebay knock offs

i got an idea. how about them assholes realize that not everyone in the dsm community is a business owner, or just has tons of money. some people dont have their ####ing mom and dads to buy all their parts for them. so knock it off with the im name brand mark up the price shit, and have a little bit of a reality check. lower the damn prices on shit and maybe business will go up. and i dont mean lower the prices like 5 or ten percent. more like 25-50

Yea if Greddy and big name places are hurting then let em...are you really gonna charge me 600 for an exhaust....normal people are'nt gonna go for that...GO EBAY and if you wanna buy a knock off then to do it...might be a piece tho:shhh:

Like everyone else is saying why would you spend $500+ for an exhaust? Most people that own dsm's don't have a lot of money, why do you think we always buy parts from each other or go to the junk yard? Like me if I don't have a lot of money so I definitely wouldn't buy a $500 exhaust.

what gets me is how much grief people get for buying ebay exhaust thats actually decent quality with mandrel bends and stainless construction, where as someone can have go to a muffler shop and have an exhaust made with bends that bottleneck down to 1.5in and call it "custom" and its perfectly acceptable. I agree that the brand names out there are way overpriced, especially for today's economy. Ive owned a Greddy Evo2 exhaust and was pleased with the quality and sound, but not the price. Most brand names are $500+ for the "aluminized" mild steel and the stainless version is another $250 on top of that. I say if youre making more power for less money then go for it. If its that big of a deal to you, buy an ebay exhaust for the piping and put a brand name universal muffler on it, which oddly enough, everyone but Greddy offers.

car sounds weak still sorry to bring you down,, this is a dumb argument specially because we all know you get for what you pay for.. pay for something cheap your gonna have something cheap, custom work is something else.. plus all of those exhaust on ebay say 3inch messure them they like 2.75.. you cant compare dyno proven name brands to cheap ebay parts..

sorry just my 0.02 cents..

Intercooler + pipes
Ebay = 300$
Greddy/Dejon/any other name brand = 1000+$

Local exhaust shops can custom weld and fit an exhaust for you for cheaper than a greddy + shipping.

In the short run (1-2 years) your ebay investments are great, cheap, and best bang for the buck upgrades. After 2 years, your manifold will fall apart, your exhaust will sound like a honda and your bov will blow off. Then you find yourself spending a whole shitload more to fix all your issues.

Heres the final question. Would you buy injectors, turbos, pistons, or any important part that will blow your engine if they arent to spec off ebay for cheap? I wouldnt. There has to be a reason why those 650cc injectors are 40$ on ebay and 200$ a piece new.
