ebay coilovers? would they last

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

First off, Ebay springs are crap. Do a search for EBAY COILOVERSand you will find this out pretty easy. Hell, there is a thread from today talking about ebay manifolds and it goes the same for all no name products. A $60 coilover is going to preform like a $60 coilover, which is LIKE CRAP.

Add in the fact you will need to get a alignment and camber kit and I think should should just ditch them until you have the money for an Eibach set of lowering springs at the very least.

Suspension, like BoV's, Boost controllers, Wastegates, turbos, manifolds are important parts that should not be paid for by spare change which is exactly what you are spending.

Quality aint cheap and cheap aint quality. It costs money to play the DSM game so man up and spend the required cash or dont mod.

Joe Bucci runs no name EBAY coilovers on his fwd drag car. But i dont know how they would be on an everyday driver.(pot holes, bumps, etc)

Dont do it unless you do it just for the car show. I have them on my car and you can feel every crack in the road plus mine on the highest setting still lowered my car like 4+ inch's (yea its in the dirt!), The other day i hit a little roll in the road and i swear i blacked out for a few seconds ROFL. But rite now im not driving it so ive left them just because the car looks good slammed

I'd have to agree with everybody else in this thread bro. DON'T DO IT.
Not even for the show, unless you'll be hauling the car on a flatbed.
Went through the same thing about a year ago. Bought the ebay coilovers for like
50 bucks. My shocks lasted about a month. after that i was pretty much riding my
bump stops.

HiRevPerformance

Bought Tein S.Tech spring from this site for 160 bucks shipped. There about 180 shipped now.
BIG difference in the ride of the car now. Don't wast your money man. Go with proven parts
and name brands.

ya i would just wait till you get some good coil overs or springs... the ebay coil overs arnt worth it (like said up above) you will literaly feel every crack and bump on the road LOL. i got them on my car right now with the stock struts (and rear camber kit)and it totally rides like shit, but hey what can you expect when you only pay 50 bucks for coilovers(and put them on stock struts). my car is lowered like 3 inches and the struts are completely blown LOL. but hey it was a learning experiance.... my next setup is gonna be koni reds with ground controll coilovers or dropzones not sure yet.... either way im planing on doin it right this time and having a nice looking ride height with decent ride quality... but hey if you dont want to spend that much and have a crapy ride then go for it LOL. its up to you...

Lol I thought I was the only one iwth this problemROFL Good thing I wanted a almost slammed look. What happend you were just asking about lowering your car where did these ebay coilovers come from?

Edit: Nevermind I figured out how to make mine work. Def came out bad ass. I will let you know how it rides though.

dont do it,been there done that. blew my rear struts in like 2 days, front shock rod with the threads on it brokbe through the bushings and almost went through my shock towers. So dont even bother with them even for the show. I actually ended up buying a real set of coilovers from ebay, RACER Design to be exact and i love them. They obviously have the hight adjustability but they also have 6 way dampering and i paid like $650 for them. I was a little sceptical at first due to price compaired to tein and everyone else but they are fing great and would recomend them to anybody

i second mekal's post. I've personally seen his car and driven it/rode in it several times and you don't want to do this man.

Me? My car had them when i bought it, i just haven't replaced them yet.

The eBay coilovers are okay, I had them for a while. The only problem is the spring rates are too stiff even for aftermarket shocks... Everyone seems to bash eBay stuff without any experience, I've actually used them though so I'm talking from actual experience. If you do use them don't use them for too long, they will wear out your shocks in NO TIME FLAT. As far as the drop, its ridiculous - hopefully you won't be driving on any pot hole plagued roads because you risk losing anything from the underneath of your car, LOL. For a car show though I don't see the harm in using them for a while.. Beats paying well over $1000 for a true coilover set up if your just going for looks. I can give a big thumbs up for Eibach sportlines + tokico illuminas though. You won't get that slammed look but your car will ride like a dream. Hopefully no one took offense to my actual experience with the eBay coilovers and I hope this helps.

If you get a good set and know how to put them on it's not that bad. Mine finally got put on and this is what they look like all the way down as in this is as low as they will go.

That is where I plan on rasing mine too so that I have more clearance at the font. I will let you know how mine rides as soon as I get the rest of the stuff done. Keep this is mind I view going this route like taking out balance shaft and prothane mounts. It will make it ride shity(if you call shitty feeling every bump)but have it's pro's too. I have no interior and I'm trying to become one of the fastest 420a's period I'm really not worried about feeling bumps. So as long as your prepared to live with the bad you will always be happy with your mods.

I've had two sets of ebay coil overs and both sets seized to my shocks just another problem with em. they definitely slam your car though.

Did you put them on stock shocks? I do not think that putting coilovers on stock shocks is a good idea if it's going to be left on there for a long time as a final solution.
