my friend wants me to rebuild his evo 16g but is low on cash. i checked on ebay and found a cheap rebuild kit for the 16g. does any body have any knowledge of this kit being useful? also when i took out the shaft there was minor scrapes in the shaft, will this damage anything when putting it back together?thank you:dsm:

Choose your vendor wisely....don't buy a rebuild kit from someone that sells turbo parts and birdhouses. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you think the seller's product may be cheap or made in China.

Polish the shaft by clamping it in a drill press lightly and using a ScotchBrite pad or Steel Wool. You can even go a step further by using a polishing compound on the shaft.

After the polishing, if you can still feel the groove with your fingernail, replace the shaft. I stock TD05H turbines at all times if you need a replacement.
