So I just bought a 95 eclipse gst with a blown motor. I am going to attempt to do a 6 bolt swap but I am just wondering if I can just pull out the motor or if I have to drop the suspension to get the motor mounts off??

I pull the transmission and engine separately. It takes a lot more time but you have a far less chance of screwing up the paint and other stuff in the engine compartment, especially if you don't have a load balance tool for your hoist, which I don't.

I also take my time on everything I do relating to my car so I don't mind. A lot of people don't share this mindset.

I always have pulled the engine and tranny together. i always attach the picker to the top starter bolt and the front ps bracket with a chain offset further towards the driver side. Once i put tension on the engine out come the motor mounts and finally the bottom cross member. if you set your chain up right the engine will swing up and the tranny will tilt down and you can raise it up fairly quick easy in no more than 5 minutes.

I know this tread is old, but damn does the scorpion scare the hell out of me. imagine if some one stole one. they'd be stealing engines left and right so quick it wouldnt be funny.....plus I cant imagine how painful that is for the car. o.o
