Magnus likes crower rods and ross pistons but they are pricey.I am builing a serious 2.4 and likely running a pretty big turbo on it .Has anyone actually broke their eagle rods? and if so at what hp level? Are the crowers really worth spending the difference in cash?

and same questions on wisecos versus ross. Are the ross much better? How is piston slap on either piston? I would assume it would go away when engine warms up. And anyone really have a reason to run the more expensive ross pistons over the wisecos in my 2.4.

Emailed Slowboy about rod choice and they told me that they brok an Eagle at 603 whp or 613 whp, can't remember which. But Cragger told me that he would not run a rod over the limit as stated by the manufacturer, which for Eagles is 600. Thats really all I can help you with, but they are hundreds of posts about the things your asking.

I have Ross 8.5 to 1 .020 over forged pistons mated to Eagle H beam forged rods. They were all balanced down to .002 grams when we built the motor, and everything was checked and rechecked for tolerances. The rods were checked for 'roundness' and the piston skirts were smoothed down to prevent gouging. After all this was done and the motor was assembled, no dieseling whatsoever. In other words, no piston slap. The motor takes a little longer to warm up, but other than that you can't tell it's a forged motor. I can't speak for the Wiescos, but I can tell you that the Ross' have been great, and I know quite a few other people who run them and have had the same results.

It's all in how the motor was built, matched with quality components.

Matt.
