Im planning on running the HX40 on my car and ive been looking into swapping to E85. Is it manditory to swap to E85 to eliminate detonation? Or is it just an option and which would be better for the HX40? And what changes have to be made besides bigger pump and injectors to run E85?

You dont need to run E85 just for the HX40. I run mine on 91 with meth (no E85 stations near by). From my understanding it helps controll detonation with its higher octane.
 
Then is it manditory to run meth? because ive heard its really difficult to get the mixture right for meth injection.
 
Yes the E85 is a lot higher octane and a lot cheaper than race fuel. This is the reason why so many people run it. You are going to want atleast to run larger injectors. You need something like 30% more fuel. Also a fuel filter that is made for E85. Standard filters will basically get eaten away. And a bigger fuel pump is a good idea as well. Some people will say you need larger fuel lines from tank to rail as well but not everyone does this.
 
I wouldnt say manditory, but in my case before meth i was limited to around 18-19lbs, and i wasnt to happy after i installed the meth kit I was able to crank it up to around 28lbs big difference. You can buy the meth in pre mixed gallons from different places I think devils own sells them.
 
There are lots of variables to consider.:hmm: How much boost you plan on running along with what kind of compression you have will play a large role in what kind of fuel you can run. If your going for high boost (30+psi) you would need to consider E85 or race gas. If your going for somewhat lower boost you may be able to get away with pump gas and possibly meth/alky injection.
