My current setup on my 91 eagle talon tsi awd is

1. walbro 255
2. 1150 cc injectors
3. afpr
4. dsmlink
5. 60-1 turbo
6. 272 cams

I am preparing to take my car to e-85 land. From what I have found here, it looks like the walbro is the weak link, but what power levels do u think it will cap out on e-85?

thanks

With everything that you said. I would say that off 20psi and a good tune you could expect around 300. Maybe a little more. Keep in mind that E85 by volume has roughly 65% of the power conventional gasoline does.

The pump should be fine for 450-500hp, if it's the 255hp. It depends on how much boost you run because the higher the fuel pressure, the less the fuel pump can flow. If you end up needing more fuel, switching the stock feed line that goes from the filter to the fuel rail should help some (as well as the filter itself). Next step would be a Bosch 044 pump, or a 255hp external as they supposedly flow quite a bit more at high pressures than the internal does.

Run one in line and one in tank. You are going to need to switch the fuel filter out and make sure you get the right fittings. I know someone running two 255s with no problems. Also, you are going to want to run some 93 octane like once a month to clean everything out. Helps resolve the gooey problem the injectors get.

Exactly what I would post but you beat me to it:thumb:
Guess i'm not toofast:rolleyes:

To the OP, See how the car performs, before you run out and buy this stuff.
You have not mentioned how much boost you plan on running even?

Who cares how much boost he plans on running. Why do people always talk about how much boost. Its become the new ricer thing.

Anyways to the OP just through some e85 in and get out there tuning. You will only know your limits once you start tuning. You are just going to hear hearsay otherwise.

Maybe he wants to run 20psi on the e85 and take advantage of increased timing or possibly he wants to run 34psi on his 60-1. Who knows? He hasn't listed any goals? I didn't mean it in a ricer way

Thats what I recommend

I'm going to run as much boost as possible on the setup, and will upgrade whatever is the weak link once something breaks.

I just wanted to make sure the walbro 255 could wasnt way to undersized to run a decent amount of boost on the 60-1.

thanks!

I live in AZ too, and there is only about 4 E85 pumps around the whole phoenix metropolitan area. I wanna convert to E85 this week as well. My one main concern is what if I'm too low on gas to make it to an E85 pump. Can I run 91 octaine to baby it to the nearest E85 pump?

How are you tuning? In my stealth i would keep a 5 gal can of e-85 in the back. Now i just switch chips if i want to change fuels. I live in surprise and have 2 pumps within 10 miles of my house. I've been running 91 mostly in my cars ever since my injectors stuck open in my gvr4 and washed the cylinders in the engine. The fuel was from the station on 91st ave and olive. When i removed the injectors they had a ton of the black goo on them that wasn't there a week before. I am thinking of running it again in my talon because it only has an evo3 turbo and the e-85 turns those little farts into monsters.

DSMLINK and wideband. I thought about keeping fuel in the back but I can't bring myself to do that. With my luck I will get rear ended and gas will go fllying all over inside the car and blow up :ohdamn: I've spent a couple days in the phoenix burn center and I don't ever want to go back :notgood: Worst screams i've ever heard

If it will run ok on 91 with an E85 tune, as in at least make it to a station with E85! I will feel alot better about converting.

+1 on the wideband w/ DSMlink. When I was running E85 on an fp green at 23psi I was running about 17* of timing and my idc's were at 83% or so now I'm on the same boost with 93 making almost 100 less hp but my idc's are at 63% max (had to drop to 11* timing) . I have dual in tank wally's and 1150's.
