I have actually gotten 83 miles with the needle on E. Ironically, I pulled in to the gas station and the car sputtered to a stop in front of the pump..... it was a WOW moment. (I don't do this regularly, )

I've squeezed 70 miles out of her once the light came on. But I was literally coughing and wheezing my way up to the gas pump.

I second this. I got over 60 miles at about 70 mph on I-5 after the gas light came on and stayed on. I don't suggest trying this again but, at least I have a basic idea of how far I'll get on "E".

Help i got 20 miles to go but Irvine's gas prices are killer, I at least need to make it out of Irvine heading towards Huntington Beach to be able to pump gas.

So just buy a gallon or two.

Hey guy's I made it home (22 mile drive) the light never turn on!? I even drove my fiancé to Round table Pizza (10 miles) and back home with out the light turning on. I did notice the needle moved up a little bit, I guess cause I jump on the hwy on the way back; Interesting...

Not only So. Cal. but south Orange County which is one of the most expensive places to live on earth.

And on the note of 2G tank capacity. My low fuel light comes on after I have used about 12 gallons of gas so there is still 4 gallons in there according to my owners manual. I have driven about 80 miles once the light turned on. The most gas I have ever put in my tank was 15.3 gallons. So my average fill up of 12 gallons leavs plenty in the tank for emergencies like getting stranded in Newport.

Everyone's gauge is going to read differently...

Mine is accurate to 3/4 of a tank, then reads 1/3 left at 1/2 a tank, at which point, the gas light will come on, and the needle will then jump back up slightly above half, and continue to go operate normally, and fairly accurately, until 1/4 tank (I've never gone below that). The gas light will still come on every time I start the car.

Ever since i installed my waldbro intank fuel pump, i have not trusted the gas light. I had to bend the rod with the float on it to get the whole FP assembly back in so i dont believe it.

I do have to agree with a bunch of people in this thread, the gas like will come on and flicker off for a while, and i usually go to a gas station when i get a solid light for like 5-10 minutes, and every time I add about 11.5-12.5 gallons of gas, so i still have like 4 gallons left in there.

Our tank are 16.9? Wow. When my gas light comes on, I can't fill up more than 12.5 gallons. So there's more than 4 gallons left? That seems off.

i know 1g tanks are 16. again, you shouldnt drive it that low, it kills pumps quick

^^^ YUP. I dont put gas in until the gas light is on for 20 miles. Then i put in $10. Then repeat the cycle. I havent put more than $10 in months.

My gauge sender is a little messed up (had to rewind the wire) so the light comes on at about 1/16 tankful. I can get like 50 miles before I run out of gas.

I've been driving aorund with my Fuel Light on since last night. ;P 38 Miles so far and it's just now even with E. I KNOW it will run with it under E as I drove it 22 miles from another town with it under E and a gas can in the back. xD

Broke till next pay check, Soft driving for @30 miles with the needle on the last line and about 5 miles when the light came on. Chicken out so I went to pump with my last few dollars.

I know this thread is old but here is the story as far as the 2g is concerned. The floater in the tank is wrong. Our cars generally show empty after 12.5 gallons and there is still about 4.x gallons left in the car. To prove to myself, I drove my car way beyond empty and the needle was about a quarter of an inch below E before I started sputtering and pulled into a gas station. I was able to fill up on just shy of 16 gallons. I think it was an issue of the floater not sending the proper voltage and the guy rewired it in parallel. Just know, you can usually bury the needle deep below E before you will run out of gas. I just never told the wife since she loves to leave my vehicles with the gas light on for me.
