I'm looking to make a new 4" exhaust for my car but I don't want it to be as loud and obnoxious as most 4" exhaust cars are. Does anyone have any feedback on the Dynatech Split-flow mufflers?

From the looks of it, it should provide pretty good flow (I'd like to see some comparison to other 4" mufflers though) and still reduce sound more than a straight through muffler due to the split design.

The car is getting a GT4202 and went 144 MPH last year on an FP T4Z with a 3" exhaust. It's current exhaust is very quiet for a low 10 second car, I want to keep it pretty quiet but I'm at the point where a 3" exhaust will begin to hold me back some.

Tony, i would talk to "Big Ted" on dsmtalk, not sure if hes on here. But i know hes running the muffler with a resonator inline and its not too loud. You could look on youtube for him "wyldcardz talon" would bring the car up to give you an idea sound wise.

I putting a gt4294 setup on the car 3 1/2 turbo back to a dynatech 4 inch bullet muffler....im sure it will be alittle loud :shhh:

Actually, Big Ted mentioned, that his exhaust is very loud... Anyway, I would personally recommend Vibrant performance flat black muffler part # 1154-4"IN, 4" OUT.Flat Black Muffler - 4" Center In/Out 1154 Flat Black Muffler.
I personally bought same muffler, but 3,5" IN and OUT/1153/, going to install it next week.
Looks stealth and very unnoticeable.

Andy, could you let me know how loud yours is after the install? I have a good amount of time before I have to buy something so I'd like to hear your impressions.

Thanks for the feedback so far guys, keep it coming.

Np problem buddy, it is just going to be next week, cause is getting damn cold now and my friend shop has no heat. I'll let you know. But is very nice and a little heavy/meaning is well packed /. Before i bought that, I talke to several companies/incl. Magnaflow/ and the muffler that is best for turbo car is single pipe IN and OUT. Anything else will cause turbulense, especially on a car like yours-9sec.

I have a 3" Dynatech split flow on my Colt. It's so compact, I added it behind the test pipe, because the 40 series I had out back just made my car louder. I would have to say it works very well to quiet the noise, considering how straight through it flows.

Since I the time I installed that, I have added a 3" converter, (that reduced the noise by half ) then I pulled my N/A 4G63, and replaced it with a built 4G63T with an EVOIII big 16g (that eliminated any/all other residual exhaust noise). I have 3" exhaust from the O2 sensor back, and it isn't much louder than an Aveo ROFL.

So I ordered two mufflers to try to decide what I want.

I got a Borla XR-1 Race muffler and the Vibrant 4" in, dual 3" outlet muffler. I'm going to take a look at both when they get here and decide which one I want to keep.

I also think I've decided to do aluminum tubing between the downpipe and muffler. I know this will end up making the car slightly louder but I calculated it will save me 15lbs. I'll run a v-band just past the transfer case (for easier t-case installs) and another right before the muffler to allow the middle of the exhaust to be aluminum. My car is a heavy pig at this point so every bit helps.
