4 inches?? are you just doing this to have a huge exaust ??, i cant imagine what kind of power you'd need to be pushing to justtify a 4 inch exaust

Ok I'm about to do a 4" exhaust. Are there any 4" mufflers?
4" eh? Let us know how that works out for you.... You must be pushing well over 1000hp to need it huh? ROFL

The bigger the better, the easier it is to get that gas out of the exhaust the easier its gonna be to make power, it bugs me alittle when people talk about well if your planing on making so and so hp you dont need more then a 2.5in...that hp will be easier to attain with as little flow restriction as you can have, not to mention spool up......i was gonna do a 3.5 inch system and im not planing on making huge hp just gettting the most i can out of a 20g 50 trim or something of the sort.....im not sure how well a much larger system would fit though

Well considering that competition cars such as shep racing only use 3.5 inch with just over 1000hp, i dont think 4 inches is really gonna help you much with anything unless u have a diesel engine and a really big turbo and esspecially if it's only a 20g or a 50trim. You will get to a point where the gases wont expand ne more and wont really give u any exhaust restrictions. If anything i'd be more worried about porting, using the least amount of bends and a good flowing muffler and or cat. -Brandon [VFRacing]

But on another note, i'm not saying dont do it, just uhh, saying it's probably a waste of time but oh well, have fun with the idea and let us know what becomes of it...and yeah, you can get a 4 inch muffler, probably meant for a turbo diesel but they do exist

That statement alone should tell you that anything bigger is pointless, and that 3'' is more than enough for 99.9% of people on this board, shep runs high 8's @ over 165 on 3.5'' exhaust, im sure anyone one this board dosnt run remotely near that fast, end of story.

Instead of giving me your opinions on why 4" is overkill, blah blah this and that. Omg he's a total newb. Like I didn't know that 3.5" is the biggest the top people use. I asked to see if there are 4" mufflers because I'm going to get this exhaust system cheap. Right now I'm running 2.5" and was planning to upgrarde to 3" but a shop near by said they can make 4" exhausts also. Clearance issues? I'm sure there are but we'll see if there are a lot when it's done. On an awd the exhaust pretty much comes straight back with a few turns at the end. I just want to know where I can get 4" mufflers. End of story.

Also on shepard's car the exhaust is about 2 feet long and exits from the front bumper of his car. That is way different than a turbo back exhaust. On drag cars do you ever see exhausts as long as factory? They pretty much run open downpipe. When you drop your catback do you see gains? I'm sure you will.

Umm, actually, he runs "Buschur full 3 1/2" exhaust" You can go to his website where i got it from and see as well and you can also see it in the pictures of his car. And yes, they have 4 inch mufflers, you just gotta look around, most likely at truck part places. -Brandon [VFRacing]

Actually no, if you see current pictures of his car the exhaust exits from the side of his front bumper.

If you don't want the advice of people far more experienced than you, then you came to the wrong place. If all you want is to find out where you can buy a 4" muffler, use google. Look up Dynomax. They make them.

isn't that just the external dump for the wastegate

my buschur 2.5 inch turbo back is about 2 inchs off the ground from hitting.. i cant imagine a 4". That is what we call clearance issues. If you get this 4" built and it works out good, and you have real pictures showing the size, and how it hangs, and there are no problems ill paypal you 15$

I doubt you'll find many with a 4" exhaust system here, hence why no one can point you in the right direction. Most people here use 3" as the biggest diameter. I would suggest Googling around for a few minutes, I'm sure you'll find what you need.

As for clearance, well, good luck with that. I imagine it's possible. If you get it working, put up some pics for all of us to see.

i plan on going with a 3.5" exhaust on my rwd project and i know that even *that* is overkill. this is with every intention of having 500+ to the wheels. if you run 4" exhaust your a sausage wallet ROFL

Here's your 4" mufflers.

I'm looking forward to the pics :D

i saw a post on a 4'' befor, and the guy did get some gains..serch it on here, youll find it. also i have a 3'' on my awd, plus my cars really low. the exhausr is about 3 inches off the ground, so good luck with the 4''. but if you want a nice looking 4'' muffler, talk to some supra owners, alot of those guys run 4'' exhausts. theyll rend you in the right direction.

Before you get to puffed up you may want to take a look at Sheps NEW setup. He is running methanol and the exhaust exist the side. That pic is VERY old.

I've seen those pictures before, I'm still under the impression that side exit is for the wastegate dump as the class he runs in ( or was running ) requires the exhaust to dump after the rear axle.
