2. The same asshats that can't keep a running DSM are surely incapable of the work, or the post-job maintenance on ANY engine.
 
Someone asked me at work the other night:

"So if you have 16 valves how many per cylinder are there?"

Me: "Well there are 3 valves per cylinder and then 4 valves that just kinda hang out and shoot the bird....."

guy at work: ".....are those valves for the turbo?"

Me: "Its an RS non turbo.... so yes they are for the turbo..."

Guy at work: "Oh, that cool!"

....seriously....


I guess I should had he owns a 2004 Eclipse GS, and its completely stock, but he was asking me what kind of mods you can put on them.

What does he care about valves anyway? IIRC, he's only got two valves per cylinder.

I couldnt even begin to tell you. He started bragging about how he rebuilt a Mustang 5.0 in highschool... then he started the above convo... so I have little faith in that mustang
 
If he's used to only V8's, I wouldn't be surprised. Some of the older guys who have never touched a 4 cylinder turbo in their life, much less a modern-ish one don't know much at all. I know some shops in Pensacola that build seriously fast carb'd V8's, but can't do shit or don't know shit ABOUT 4 cylinder turbos. So I wouldn't really judge him on that. It sounds like he was trying to ask you an honest question and you were being a total dick to him? Or did he mean it in a condescending way? In the mustang world, valves matter. 2V 4.6 won't be as potent as a 4V 4.6 would be, and etc. So I could see how him thinking there was a difference.

Gotcha. I know those types of people for sure. Best thing to do is just agree and let them go.

once at a car meet, my friend rolled up in a brand new evo.
and I don't really know about them. but my other friend does. and a kid was like how many miles? and the evo friend replies 300 miles and the other kid says take it easy! it's barely breaking in.
my friend(non evo owner) told me that they're broken In from factory, so I thought it was funny how the kid was completely serious repeating himself "you're pushing it too hard! it's breaking in" LOL.
 
Ive had two in the last few hours at work. I work security at an airport and I deal mainly with vehicle traffic. So this guy pulls up in a really nice Evo. I walk up and ask:
Me: "Hey man what type of evo is that?"
Guy: "I think its a 7"
Me:" Man thay thing is clean!"
Guy: "Thankd man, you like evos?"
Me: "Im a DSM fan in general, I have a 97 Eclipse RS."
Guy: "Cool...... Whats a DSM?"


I literally face palmed LOL.

Second guy pulls up in a 2g Spyder convertable.

Me: "Nice 2g ya got there sir."
Guy: "Uh thanks man, but its a 99"
Me: "Thats cool, (at this point im just gonna screw with him) so do those have the 420a's in em?"
Guy: "Uh... Dude its a Spyder not a 420 whatever"
Me: "......... Have a good day sir...."

That dsm owner is setup for failure in life, LOL. I have the letters DSM on my rear windshield, and somebody wrote underneath the letters with with window chalk "Di** Sucking Maniac" I was soo pissed. Whoever did it, chalked every car on my street.

ive had a couple funny moments so far. die hard Honda owner with a turboed vtec asked me- so you have an eclipse?
me- well yea its a talon but same thing.
him- it says TSI AWD on the back whats that mean?
me- well means its turboed and all wheel drive
him- o that's cool. so what does a turbo do?
me- Do what? LOL
me- a turbo forces mass amounts of air into an engine
him- o so does that give you more hp?
me- does your Honda have a turbo?
him- ummmmmm idk what they look like?

after this conversation i wanted that 5 minutes of my life back LOL
