dud noise when i burn out?

ok when i do a burn out purposly or not i get a dud dud dud dud noise from the right front end i figure its not a cv axle cause it would make a noise all the time right? so is this normal or what could it be

I would check your ball joints and tie rod ends. Sounds like one of those needs to be replaced.

That sounds like wheel hop to me. VERY hard on just about every part that rotates the wheels...

One of the best and cheapest ways to reduce wheel hop is to get prothane inserts for your engine and tranny mounts. They run about $80 (for the whole set) and work by reducing the amount the motor and tranny twist and turn in the engine bay. Some people only put the passenger and tranny inserts in, but I would say at minimun hit the Pasenger, Tranny, and front roll stop. It should take you about 30 minutes depending on how quick you try to do it but they aren't hard at all. The rear roll stop is more of a PITA and I decided I will just do it when I drop my new motor in.



There are other options, but since I have the feeling this isn't for track racing this should be enough to solve most of the problem. Remember when your wheels (or wheel since you don't have LSD) aren't gripping you aren't really going anywhere.

Burnouts + DSMs = BAD!!!!!

Yeah my other 2g gst did that. The one I have now has a 6 bolt with the motor mounts like 99RedGs above said. It does give a little vibration but nothing major.

There was a recall on the ball joints I think for 96 or 97. So you may want to check that out as well.
