Richmond Hill,
Is it possible to have 2 intercoolers in your car, one that is mounted in the front, and another mounted behind the passenger side wheel and have them connected? This is on a 92 talon turbo.

first of all, I can understand his healthy attempt at writing english. It is way better than my attemtp would be to speak (let alone write) any Slavic tounge. Well done.

The intercooler we are talking about is the Mark IV Supra piece. It can be had on Ebay or even in the "for sale" part of this forum. The prices seem to be going up recently. Still cheaper than a new front mount.

Id say that the WRX piece will be too much work and the cost of the extra aluminum welding/fabrication will easily drive the cost of the project up to that of an aftermarket intercooler setup.

Best of luck tho, I admire the spirit and am the same way myself.

I'll search at us used.
To order on a site from here it's hard and unprofitable. I havn't credit card and to transfer money it's possible only through Western Union.

Mongraven:

There's a few things people have done with the stock intercoolers, this is all "Do-It-Yourself", and not bought parts, so it can be done very cheaply:

1) Some people have removed the old endtanks, attached two or three stock IC cores together, welded on new endtanks, and created a fairly large FMIC. That is a possibility.

2) Another possibility is to put a second stock IC in the driver-side of the car, opposite from where the stock one is. You'll need to make pipes that split off to go to both ICs, and then rejoin somewhere.

3) With the stock SMIC, I have heard that the biggest restriction is the endtank connecting pipes. You could cut off the old pipes, and have larger ones welded on, or just weld on whole new endtanks.

Also, don't worry about people here making rude comments about your English. You speak English far better than I speak your language :) People here just like to complain about anything.

I hope I have helped you some.

About comments on my English - for me it's indifferent.
There are many talkers and fools in all countries.

And for advice about IC, thanks. I have decided, if I'll not find the bigger IC from Supra, I'll make from two stock one bigger. It seems to me not difficult.

Looking at the greddy small front mount intercooler it looks like one could also use the stock sidemount intercooler if you get a custom pipe made. Useful or stupid?

Running two intercoolers in series will just cause more lag and pressure drop. Paralell would be better, but would be too much work. You're better off just getting a decent FMIC.

I was just wondering if anyone knows if dejohn still has the dual sidemount kit. I know they used to have it on there website but its not there anymore. thanks

well, ive heard the dual smic on dsm's never really did much good

look for example at the 3000gt vr-4 guys... they replace the stock dual smic's with a single fmic for best performance

id just get u a good fmic man

Does anyone know how affective 2 sidemounts are? I have a 2g, would it work to put one intercooler on each side of my bumper?

I posted this up as well about a year ago. I concluded it's not worth doing. Too much pressure drop, too much piping, and for the money you can almost just buy a fmic that will work waaaaaay better.

Actually, it may be a promising idea. The pressure drop would be reduced by half if you were to run two smic in parallel. The effective heat dissapation area would double. Hmmm... let's see.

Spare stock smic - $50
Piping - $150
Time - priceless

For the price, it looks like a good idea, but I'm not sure about the clearance on the driver's side. The oil filter and cooler sit right in the place where you would put the second sidemount if I'm not mistaken.

I've been looking into this for awhile too... I have a spare SMIC, and it looks like there's enough room. I'd do a FMIC, but I have some problems that prevent me from going that route (would need new radiator, different fans, would interfere with my brake ducts, etc.). We'll see if I get around to it eventually :)

Huh? On a 95 gsx you can just slap on a front mount. It sits in front of the radiator ... you can use stock fans.

Problem is that it's a road course car, I'm near the limit on cooling with nothing in front of the stock radiator. If I go FMIC, then I have to go with a Fluidyne radiator (hoping that's enough with the restriction). If I go Fluidyne, I need new fans since I have a 16g (Fluidyne pushes the fans back a little and the stockers are already rubbing the J-pipe)... Not to mention the bigger fact that my brake ducts go through the same space the IC piping would probably need to go :) I've cooked brakes well before even with the ducts, do NOT want to try it without them!
