dual exaust or 4-2-1

is it possible to put dual exhaust on a 98 gst or do i have to put a 4-2-1? is one better than the other? any help would go a long way

You wouldn't use any of that on a Turbo car. You should probably do some reading on here and learn more about your car.

- Dual exhaust would be very difficult to install and offers no benefit over a single.

Yeah a 4-2-1 is a header for a non turbo. A turbo dsm uses an exhaust manifold with all 4 runners collecting into one to go into the hotside of the turbocharger.

4-2-1 offers some benefits to NT cars. Get a nice turbo manifolds. Stay away from ebay turbo headers as they tend to crack alot of times. As far as the dual exhaust goes, you will spend hours fabricating it only to find out that your car looks obnoxiously stupid with dual exhausts. those are just not meant for DSM's. Like i said, a nice 4-1 manifold, and a turbo/catback exhaust is the way to go.

Woah, Im going to stop you there... One of yours crack? Mine, form ebay, came with a 1yr warrenty, and is going on close to 3yrs now no prob. Cant hate that!

edit: oh yea, OP. On a turbo car no exhaust is better than anything else. Cops are really the only downside to that one

I assume that if your came with a 1yr wrranty it was a brand name exhaust. I was referring to 100 dollar shipped no name turbo headers, that most of the people on this site had and they cracked. ebay ss NT headers are sometimes nice and pretty high quality. again, a turbo header sustains alot more punishment than a NT one, mostly due to the weight. but, if you had good experience with a no-name ebay turbo header, post a link or the store name on here so other budget build guys could save some cash personally i found a nice ss noname header for 100 shipped and from a thread on here it seems like good stuff.

Sadly its been like too long, I dont think i could find that seller again. But yea, its not name brand or anything. I paid like 200 for it. It has good welds, 7cm collector and such. I figured if they gave it a year warranty it couldn't be too bad. Im sure there is junk ebay manifolds... Ya just have to shop wisely.

OP: Follow the upgrade path before you waste money on a manifold. The stocker is plenty good. Talking exhaust, if you still want duals do whatever you choose, just know there is NO performance advantage. Its only for looks. Personally, the money spent on duals could go to a NICE stainless steel single setup. Stainless steel = lasts life of car
