I bought an eprom ecu with v2 dsmlink in it. The ecu / link / cable was stolen out of my car along with other things. What can I do? I bought the Link from another member on here and I have his info from buying it but we never "officially" transfered it into my name.....

How many dsm's are in lancaster...? Do you think they stocked your car..or just a crack head that needed some cash? It may popup on ebay or craigslist. I don't ever lock my car, and it sits down on the road from my house. I hide my safc2 down behind the radio LOL.. Don't let that baby just sit where people can grab it.

I'm not sure how many are around, I see a lot of them. The car sits right outside in front of the garage. I don't think whoever stole it was "stalking" my car persay, as there were many parts new in the trunk that were untouched. It looks like they just smashed and grabbed a couple things (laptop, ecu w/ link & cable, and some cd's)... sucks, you can't have anything nice.

Ditto. Do people still steal cd's? Sorry for ya man. Some people need to get a job. One of the guys that works for me had his truck stolen. Another had his apartment broken into and they stole his little son's ps2 and games. :notgood:

Did you write down the number on the eprom chip or can find it? Report to Tom that it was stolen and when somebody registers it he will ask for their eprom chip number and you can "find" the guy.

If they stole your ECU they obviously know something about cars because its not common for a typical thief to steal that let alone to know where it is. I would definitely ask around and see if any of your DSM friends in the area know of any others that could be potential thiefs.

Agreed. This just sounds WAY too suspicious. Can you imagine somebody having the balls to get underneath your dash and taking the time to unscrew your ECU in the middle of the night? It's a PITA trying to get that thing out of there during the day.

E85 - Was the ECU installed or was is just loose in your car waiting to be installed.

It was just laying on the floor along with the laptop. The thing is there was a bunch of new parts in the trunk (hatch or whatever) that weren't even touched. It's like they just wanted the link / ecu / laptop or got spooked? I'm waiting to hear back from the guy I bought it from to get the serial number for the Link itself, I'll be sure to let Thomas know, I don't want anyone getting my discount on v3!

That's why I was wanting to get all the info from the one I got. So the looser(s) that took mine can't get v3 for what I "should" be able to get it for. Or was your comment not directed towards me (snowborder714)?

I may have read your last post wrong when you said "so someone can't get my discount". I think I just took it a different way.

I'm not sure if anyone knows this, but when you purchase a used chip, does the seller have to contact Tom and let them know that this other person is now the new owner? I'd assume this as it'd prevent people from just stealing chip numbers and contacting Tom. Plus, I always hear about people buying it used saying they can't get in contact with the seller anymore to transfer the chip.

I bought mine used and the original owner did not have to contact Tom or Dave. I just had to supply them with my chip number and I was good to go. So I'd have them look into yours a little heavier once you get the number that was on your chip.

I sent an email to the guy I bought it from and I'm just waiting to hear back. When I get all the information from him I'll be contacting Thomas. Anybody have a 1g 'Link v2 they wanna sell that's not over $400? I don't need the ecu, just the chip and cable, I have the cd and clutch wire still.

There's one in the classifieds, but it's $450.

Yes cause you know, thieves will travel 700 miles just to steal something...
I suggest you disable your hyperlink before word gets out. All it needs is for someone to hear one thing for it to blow out of proportion, especially if that guy is innocent.

I didn't get the impression that Demon33 was suggesting it was the stolen one. Perhaps he's not at fault here.
