First off I barely got the DSMLink on Tuesday and have not received my username and password for the DSMlink forums.

I am having connection problems because when I open the DSMlink program on my laptop is always says "Timed Out failure" (something like that). I am using the Belkin USB to DB9 serial port adapter. I heard that it depends on the port I install it on but don't know quite sure what that means or how to change the port. Any suggestions???

The other problem I have is that after I gave up trying to get the connection, I decided to do a few runs and datalog them with the palm pilot. I have the GM Mas and translator so I just zero'd out everything since the dsmlink chip is set to compensate for my 780cc injectors. :notgood: My car studdered as soon as I move in first gear and it would not accelerate. I changed the settings on the Maf-t back to Aux: 2, Base: 5 (for the 780cc's) and the car works fine, I have yet to datalog it to see how its running because my palm pilot ran out of batteries so I have to install the program (mmcd) again. Question: I was told to zero out the maf-t once I install the dsmlink but why does the car studder when I do that??? Am I doing something wrong?

You have to disconnect the battery and let the ECU reset for the dsmlink chip to do its job.

You can change the port by going to EDIT>OPTIONS>CONFIG.

But how do I change the port on the laptop???? I was able to find the device manager and I saw that the USB to DB9 serial port is on (COM4), but I want to put in on COM3...is that the connection problem that I am having???

Do you know for a fact then the belkin USB adaptor will work with 1G ECUs? The only one I know for sure works is the KeySpan. The problem is that the 1G DSM ECU talks at a non-standard serial port speed that most devices don't support.
