Okay. Im a noob with dsmlink. Just bought it today, the guy didn't really know what he had, he bought the car like is. Anyway I bought the laptop with 2 programs, ecmlink V3.?? And dsmlink v2.5?? And also the ecu that was in his car.

Anyway my question is, is this all I need to tune with link. Programs and the ecu and the cable from obd to laptop? I researched something about a user id and password from previous owner of link but the thing is this guy bought this car from. Someone whos goin prison time so therefore can't get ahold of him. Also the car was running 750's which he sold already and im rubbin 660s. Will that be a problen?

sorry for long post I just wanna make sure I didn't get ripped off. any input would be appreciated thanks

Open the ecu and send the serial number to the guys at ECMLINK to get a username/password for their forums. There will also be a version number on the chip. Most likey you will use v3 since its backward compatible with v2.5. When you change your injector size you will need to retune the ecu to compensate

Okay. Well im going plug th ecu in and connect the laptop to my car see what happens. Ill post back up

So what version of dsmlink are you running? Only thing needed is the odb to serial adapter as well as serial to usb. Or if your running V3 they have a new cable which is serial to usb.

i opened up the ecmlink v3 and it opens up, it just doesnt read my port i guess. so it wont let me log or whatever it is. i opened up dsmlink v2.5 and i got it to show my ecu readings so i guess i only have dsmlink v2.5. i opened up the ecu and only seen the dsmlink v2.5 chip? in there so im guessing the previous owner just downloaded the v3 but never on the ecu? does that sound about right? also i turned on my car and it sounded like i had the biggest cams in the world. it was idleing like at 200rpms. is it because the previous owner had 750's and the tune stuck on the ecu? im really a noob with link so my apologies if thats a dumb question. anyway at first i didnt know what was going on and i finally messed with the fuel tab and put the last thing on the right hand side( i think fuel injector scale)to 0% and car idled back to normal at around 800rpms.

You can get the v2 program to work on the v3 software by clicking connection config and setting it for v2. As soon as you get that working in order to change your injector setting click on the fuel tab and change the global to -31 and deadtime to 180-210 depending on what brand you get. You should post a log so we can see your settings to give you more help.

I did a log and for some reason around 2300rpms I can feel my car shaking and I think my timing might be off because the numbers look weird. Also before I installed link I had previously swapped to a 1g cas and had to swap my spark plug wires around. I never swapped injector pins. My question is since I got dsmlink now do I put my plug wires back to stock? Ill post a my log once I get a flash drive since the laptop don't have wireless I belive

Post a log. Your wires stay the same.

Stay the same as in stock or as in the way I had to put them when I switched to a 1g CAS? And as in timing off, i mean the CAS being off, not my timing belt. And ill post a log right

Follow the graphic at the bottom. If you still have the 1g CAS, follow the image on the right. If using the stock '95/'96 setup, follow the image on the left.
swapplugwires [ECMTuning - wiki]

Looks like your front o2 sensor is dead, as it's just sitting at 0v.

Go into Edit > Captured Values and add:
-ThrotPos
-OpenLoop
-MAFRaw
-LTFT Lo
-LTFT Hi
-STFT
-CombinedFT
-SelectedLTFT

Then go into Edit > Displayed Values and add all of those things to the "To be displayed" list.

Then take another log at idle with the car up to operating temperature.

And watch the videos in the link someone above posted.

thanks alot. ill go back and get it to display more values. but i think i already tried displaying TPS but it wasnt in the "display vaules"..i have v2.5 not v3..unless i overlooked it. ill try again

You need to change your global and deadtime as well as add the the values mentioned above.
i did change my global and deadtime. i went off this link GMAF Calibration for LTFT.. i have rc550's so i put my global at 18% and dead time at 180

how does my timing look?
but yeah, ill post another log later when i get home

You said you had 660's earlier in the thread. For the 550's your global and deadtime are correct. In order to get more display values you first need to capture them. Click F10 and add them then after that is done you click F9 and add them to the display.

Oh okay kool thanks. Im bout to try it. oh and sorry for not updating but I have rc 550s now cus I needed extra cash..I will post another log in a few

You need to adjust your TPS since it's showing 2% at idle. You also need to get your airflowperrev down to .25 you can do that by lowering the 50hz slider a little bit. Your combinedFT is a little high so you can add some more deadtime to the injectors to try to get it close to 0. You can also go to the knock tab and set it up to go of at 3500rpm and 30tps and then go to dash tab and set up the knock to go off at 2 counts and lower your your warning for coolant to 220.
