Hell, a palm pilot with the logger program can clear cells. No sense in buying a dsmlink for just that function.

no im going with dsmlink just because its dsmlink, i dont think i have to tell you why i want it, and im sure you know why i want it . im just asking if i could clear cel's with it so i could pass emissions. or will it not work like that.

Yes, DSMLink will allow you to clear several codes-- here's a screen shot of the dialog box:

DSMLink also allows you ignore some CEL's such as a non functioning rear o2 sensor.

No, DSMLink will not "allow" you to pass the OBD-II readiness state tests.

You can clear errors, but it will not force the test states to read "completed".

Those can only be set by doing the drive cycles needed to cause the ecu to perform the test.

why is it that you could clear the cels but you will still fail the obdII plug test. anyone know any good tricks to get that past

Hey guys, I have to apologize in advance, I am a newb to 2g DSMs. I have a '91 and just got rid of my '90. I am familiar with the tools used on the palm for the 1g and I have heard of DSM Link for 2g's but I wanted to know what (if any) the free options were for diagnostics on a palm for a 2g DSM were? Thanks and sorry for not spending 30min. searching.

Free? Don't know, maybe Palm-n-stein. I do know that DSMLink is available for 1Gs now, but it's not free. It IS the best logging/tuning tool you can get, though, for a 1G OR a 2G. Probably a search for a term like "free datalogger" or something like that may turn up some results you're after.
