Makes me feel good then. I got mine for $426 shipped!

It’s super easy to use the slicer software that generates the G-code. It does come with software to download, but you can also use other slicers.

Then you can plug the computer into it or use a usb drive. I have just been using a usb drive. It’s noises enough that I don’t want it on the main floor of our house, so its down in the finished half of the basement.

So all you really need is an stl file from your favorite modeling software.

For years I have been on the look out of a used AMM intake manifold. It’s one of the very few manifolds available for the 420a. His manifolds are highly praised by everyone that has one, but I never felt comfortable reaching out to him to have one made. So I was always looking for a used one, but that has proved to be a needle in a hay stack.

Well the other night I was messing around and searching for one again when I came across a for sale post on a 420a Facebook forum by Mark Bullet which included one of the AMM manifolds he had. Well I wasted no time as soon as I saw it... and I am now the proud owner of one of these master pieces. Not planning on putting it on the car right away as I would like to clean it up a bit, get it powder coated and I will have to re-do my intercooler piping.

It has been a while since I posted an update. Most of that is due to the fact that our little bundle of joy that arrived on Feb 4th. She’s now almost 4 months old. What an amazing experience it has all been. Challenging but fun. She has also pulled basically all of my time away from the car, but that’s ok.

Finally making some progress to get her back on the road. Got the digital dash back in with the new auto meter gauges. Also printed a new enclosure for the Pi with dual fan in it which will help to keep the board temps down since it’s stashed in the dash. Finally I finished up my install of the Braille battery. Had no problem at all starting the car after sitting for about 4 months or so also without being fully charged. Few things left to button up and then she will be on the road again... until I start bringing Ellie to daycare when my wife goes back to school in August (she’s a school teacher).

Finally we got my wife a new mom mobile. 2017 Rogue SV.

Still working on the DSM every now and then. Did a few small things today that I have had for a while. Solid front roll stop and bumper mounts to delete the crash bar without the bumper sagging under the headlights.

Well the car has been running good. Haven’t really done anything else to it with lack of time to play with it. One problem that I was dealing with over the summer was starter heat soak. It got worse and worse as the summer went on. The starter that was in the car was 10 years old and sits like a half an inch from the turbo housing so all that heat doesn’t help much.

It got to the point where the starter just stopped working even when it was cold. So I got a new starter and then started looking into a starter heat shield and the turbo blankets for the turbine housing. With a lack of room I decided to just do the turbo blanket. I went with thermal zero since they are local to me here in the Cincinnati area. They didn’t have one that specifically fit a T3 flanges TD06 housing but it looked like their universal T3 blanket would fit.

So I got that in along with the new starter and man am I impressed with that turbo blanket. I wish I had gotten it sooner. I took her out for a good spin. Lots of boosting. Some idle time waiting at lights and such.

What used to happen is my egt would get up to 1100-1200 deg while boosting. At cruise it would only go down to 1000. Once it got hot it never went back down.

Now my egts under boost still get up to 1100-1200 depending on how hard I push it. Then at cruise it drops to 900 and at idle at lights it will drop to 700!!

That's incredible! It's crazy to think about how heat soaked everything was getting.

After all that I parked it and you can't even get your hand near the manifold. You can touch the blanket quick and feel it's warm but it won't melt your skin off.

Needless to say... I shoulda done this years ago.

What did you use coming out of your water pump, looks like you had to route it differently.

Using an AFCO scirocco radiator so the inlet and outlet are on the same side. I used some of the stock pipe with a 90 and 45 to route it differently. I still have a piece of flat stock going to one of the bolt holes in the block to hold it in place at the water pump.

Been busy with lots of other projects recently which has left the DSM and my build thread rather dormant.

For a while now I have wanted to pick up a raspberry pi 4 which has dual micro hdmi outputs and up to 4 gb of ram to upgrade the digital dash I did a few years ago. Since I have turboed the car, I never listen to the stereo ... which has left me wondering why I even still have it in the car now.

so the other day I picked up a pi4 and a second 7 inch screen which will go where the radio is and look similar to a double din radio. This way I can add a few more gauges and de-clutter the main display screen in the dash. More to come as I continue version 2 of the digital dash.

I also still have the fender braces I have yet to install and I also got in Bobby’s group buy for the 4 point brace so maybe once that comes in a spend a day or so and get all that in the car.

3D printed a new case for the pi and the power unit out of ABS. The last case I had printed out of PLA and it deformed like crazy with the heat in the dash on a hot summer day. The ABS will be able to withstand the temps without deforming. The dual fans help keep everything cool while it’s stuffed in the dash.

    @dsmcrzy Is that a valve cover from a 2.4?

    EDIT: nevermind, post #27. Yep, it's a 2.4

It has to be from one of the cloud cars. The PT cruiser and SRT4 valve covers look similar but have a different bolt pattern.

I reached out to the company I go the new touch screen from (uctronics) for some dimensions of the screen for 3D modeling the bezel. To my surprise the company actually sent me a .STL file of the screen so I could gather whatever dimensions I wanted.
So here is where I am currently. The other half of the bezel is running on the printer now. Obviously I still have some tweaks here to get better fitment, but it was a solid place to start.

Got the other half of the bezel printed and the 2 halves glued together. Still going to make tweaks to the 3D file to get this to fit better but it’s not too bad right out of the gate.

I have seen a few people do it. I did it when I installed the turbo. I run an AFCO radiator which sits where the AC condenser used to. I also run a 12” pusher fan so the intercooler was pushed further forward. If you look on the drivers side you can see why I had to cut the bumper to get it to fit. At some point I want to add ducting there to brakes and an engine oil cooler.

Got the radio bezel finished up. Took quite a few attempts to get everything down but I think it looks pretty good. Next step is to get this professionally printed like I did for the gauge cluster. Instead of using a spook of plastic extruded through a hot nozzle, it’s a bed a powder that’s melted with a laser.
