Ask Me,
Virginia
I was wondering if it is necessary to drop the downpipe and member when removing the FWD transmission on a 1g. I don't want to hear about how it is only a few bolts, so please stay on topic and just answer the question.
Neither the downpipe nor the member appear to get in the way of tranny removal.
In the VFAQ, they refer to the "right member". On the FWD, all that I could identify was a member that was just about at the center of the car and didn't seem to block tranny removal either.
I have been following the VFAQ and it has worked flawlessly for tranny replacement on my AWD vehicles. I'd like to see exactly how many steps I can skip on my FWD. The VFAQ eludes to the fact that you can skip some things, but I think that it misses a thing or two.
Does anyone know?
Thanks
