Hello,

I have an issue going on with a dragging clutch. Hoping I haven't done any synchro damage. I started to troubleshoot the issue once I noticed a slight grind in 2nd the other night. I have literally put about 300 miles on my car since I last had my clutch apart to replace my throw out bearing.

I rev the car with the clutch pressed in (in 1st gear) and I move forward at about 7000 RPM's

So far I have double checked my master cylinder adjustment following directions from Jacks Transmission. Then I bled the clutch again. I'm still dragging.

Here is where I'm at:

- Master cylinder was also replaced 300 miles ago. However, I cannot remember where I bought it from. I see Jacks cautions against the autoparts store master cylinder. I'm almost sure I bought it from Orielly Auto. Should I order an O&E Master and see if it helps?

- My flywheel is a stock flywheel that I had professionally resurfaced at Napa's Machine shop. I never thought to check the step height. This could likely be my problem.

- My trans doesn't seem to be miss aligned or missing any bolts. I know I also lined up the dow pins correctly.

- It doesn't seem like I have any gaps between the slave and the shift fork. The last thing could be the pivot ball or the pivot ball shimming. However I think this is unlikely.

I'm sitting here wondering if I should just start pulling my tranny OR should I change my master to a genuine OEM and see if it still drags before tearing it apart.

Thank you

Well right off the bat I will tell you this. Get an oe master cylinder. The rod of the oe master is longer, which allows for more adjustment and more fluid to be pumped. It will most definitely help. Do I think this is your problem? I think your problem is in the flywheel step, but I say change the master before tearing it apart again.

Thank you!! I just ordered an OE master. I'll start there and see if it fixes my problem. If not, at least I'm becoming a pro at pulling the tranny. I won't miss checking my flywheel step height next go around tho
