I had the same setup on my 2g GST and all I did was used the 3'' gasket and connected the two straight up.

Same here. That's why the 3" is slotted more. Use the bigger gasket and it works fine. Remember to use washers so the nuts/bolts don't fall through.

But when i fitted like this its still got a litle holes on the side
you say to put gasket but not the 3" one but something on the middle?

Both of us said to use the 3" gasket.
There will be a gap on the flanges obviously, but the actual exhaust will match up fine. Try it out.

If your concerned with flow at all (you should be if you've already descided to upgrade your DP & exhaust), then take it to your local custom exhaust shop. Have them cut out the neck down portion & then weld in a new piece of 3" & a 3" flange to match. That is the best method & it shouldn't break the bank either.

Always a good option too. And if you know how to weld yourself... cost is very minimal then.

I believe you are looking for this piece.

Unfortunately don't think anyone sells it separately. With that piece I can install just the downpipe and adapter will mate it perfect with stock catback, OR install just the catback and reverse the adapter so it works with stock downpipe.

Might want to check ebay, and no I'm not selling mine sorry.

i want to get 3" flange and i will be abel to welded by my self but they told me in my shop they don't have 3" flange and frome where else i can buy 3" flange some where from internet?

When you say shop, do you mean a muffler shop like Meineke? They should carry it. I have also ordered gaskets, flanges and misc exh parts from Adv Auto. They have a large catalog with Magnaflow and Dynomax parts in it, and they are normally next day order items. I have built 2-3 exh myself using the local Meineke & Adv. (well I had to buy a few mandrel bends on the internet)

I would definitely go with daren p's idea. Just take it to an exhaust shop and have them replace the 2.5" neck-down section with a 3" piece. That's what I plan on doing as soon as I order my new downpipe.

This one will work but i think the best way is to buy a flange and peace of 3"pipe and cut the old one and welded

Welcome to Verocious Motorsports - A Provider of High Performance Automotive Exhaust Components has alot of DIY exhaust/intake parts. A 3", 2 bolt exhaust flange isn't anything special, it should be pretty common for any descent exhaust shop, especially if they make any performance systems. Maybe check your local yellow pages, google search, etc for local shops (saves on shipping). I'm sure most of our supporting vendors would carry them as well. Vibrant makes a nice flange if you want to search their distributors as well. RRE (Road///Race Engineering Mitsubishi Eclipse Parts and Performance) is in Cali, they should have both the flange & pipe you require.

I had this same problem when i got my punishment 3" downpipe in. Just save yourself the headache, take it to a muffler shop like i did, and have them cut off the flanges on both ends of the downpipe and cat-back and have him weld a 3"-2.5" reducer pipe on there.
Worked great for me and no more exhaust leak.
I assume your cat-back is steel right ? If it is you're in luck, as you can weld any 2 steels together.

its stainless steel. I just bought fro ebay stainless steel pipe section 3" diameter and 7" long for 16 $ and Stainless Steel Exhaust Flange 2 Bolt 3" for 15$ and i hope its going to work just cut the 2.5" pipe and weld the 3" one

Yeah any exhaust shop on the corner should be able to weld that together for you, so that you can get it installed on your car.

The reducer is the best way to go with it so you wont have to do any cutting. Just bolt it in. Megan sells those with the 3" exhaust...

i bought the flange and the pipe. I have to cut my cat back anyway because it wasnt weld right and when i lowered my car one of the pipes starat hiting every bump stop

same thing with mine, bought the megan 2.5" dp with greddy evo 2 exhaust, so i just used a 3" gasket and no leaks, and the o2 housing that came with the turbo was for a lancer so i had to take it to an exhaust shop and have them cut some of the cat to make it work kind of a pain but no more leaks
