I've been recently experiencing some strange clutch shifting symptoms, that I concluded was mainly about old/ exhausted clutch fluid. It's been the same fluid in there for 5+ years. Today I took out what was in the reservoir and replaced it with some SMB DOT-3 that I had around, which is already making a difference. Will keeping this in there be OK or should I plan on doing a full flush of the hydraulic clutch system with some quality fluid ?

Plain Jane dot3 fluid is fine. A full flush is probably a good idea.

DOT3 brake fluid for the most part is DOT3 brake fluid no matter where it comes from or what name is on the bottle. There are some exceptions to this as there’s some proven stuff the hardcore auto cross and road race guys use to fight off heat issues but for the vast majority of us whatever DOT3 fluid is fine. Last time I did mine I used the Walmart supertech house brand stuff in the brake system, and no bs the Dollar General house brand stuff in the clutch system. For the most part 90% of it’s the same, just buy whatever’s cheapest at whatever store is convenient.
