ok i searched and didnt find anything on this at all. since i have owned my 97 tsi the d.s. door has had problems locking by the remote and by the auto lock. no biggie. i figured it was some short or minor electrical problem. well about a month ago i got in my car put my keys in the ignition then remembered i needed to get something out of the trunk so i get out... let the door close... and when i tried to get back in it was locked!! well my ma had lost my spare key so my only choice was a locksmith which ='d 30 dollars gone. i knew i didnt hit the lock either so i tested it. when i got home i opened the door and closed it and sure enough, about a minute or two later it just locked!! even the drivers door which wont lock for me. needless to say i now have a trusty spare but has anyone had this problem much less know a solution?? anything would be apreciated

Yep, mine does the same thing. I KNOW when I unlock the car and don't do anything, such as open the door, they will lock back after about 30 seconds. Now I think when I unlock the car and open the passenger door/trunk/hood it will lock as well. There has been instances where I would open the driver door and it would lock after 30 seconds as well but it hasn't done it in a while. Now usually if I hit the unlock button and open the drivers side door it will stay unlocked till I lock it back myself.

Once when I unlocked my car with the remote, everytime I would hit the unlock button it would lock right after! It was so fast I couldn't even unlock it and hurry up and open the door. I must of tried like 15 times! Once I put the key in to unlock it, it stopped and unlocked like normal.

Just thought I would share my experiences.

Mine will do the same as mentioned, but it has never done it with the actual keys in the ignition. In fact if my keys are in the ignition and I go to lock the door it will automatically unlock it.

Haha that happened to me to. The ingetion switch has a auto door lock feature in it. When you put the key in an shut the door it will lock. Our cars are one of the first to have that feature, so we have to prefect it. Latter in the years they added a door trigger to it with the door light button. So when the door is closed the autolock will work. Ours are not like that thats why right after u turn it on it will lock the doors an if u re open an close it it locks the doors again.

Yeah...your keysense function in your ignition is not working. By design, the car will always unlock the doors if the keys are in the ignition and a door is locked and then closed (both with the engine is running and off).
