yes it my car but i dont wanna mess it up. I was thinking of finding a turbo running in bad shape ealge talon and re-building that motor a cupple times to get use to it..and i can use it for parts

Thats a good idea, I was going to do the exact samething with my old 7bot after I did the 6bolt swap. Just take it apart and rebuild it a few times, till I feel comfortable with what im doing. Plus you will save ALOT of money working on your own car, which I have found out the hard way. Also I think it will feel great knowing what your doing after a while, so I say go for it.

+1 to all the information you can find on how to do anything to a 4g63, mostly on here.

Have you done timing on anything else? It's not really hard to do, but if you do it wrong it becomes a big problem. You could probably get a blown DOHC NT car for less than $500 and learn on it, if you have the space. Then for about $150 you can get a new belt, bearing, and tensioner kit.

That would suck! Was one of the first things I bought when I started turning wrenches about 15 years ago.

Evil is right, save some money and do it yourself. When i comes to my car I do just about everything myself...its the only way I can afford to drive my pos...i mean eclipse. Just research it a little, and get a haynes manual.

i got like 5 impact wrench's i got almost every tool my step dad works at a steel mill he can walk off with them and they never know. LOL Thats not gunna be happing for much longer cause hes moving out =( no more car advice from him gunna be talkin to u guys more.

The crank bolt is not that bad, just put it in gear with the car on the ground and blocks in front of the tires.

Or put a wrench on the cam gears and let it rest against something and then wrench the crank bolt off.

Sorry for my delay in response.

Timing Belt VFAQ (Timing Belt TSB - ENHANCED)

Good luck man, let me know what questions you have, and I'll do my best. I feel you, I remember my first timing belt, and I understand your concerns. I was worried myself when I did my alone, but the VFAQ pages got me through, so just take your time, prepare and study for it and you'll do fine. It's not as hard as it sounds. It will take you a few tries to get everything lined up properly, but you'll get it.

When you get ready to do it, feel free to drop a line, we'll get er' done. Just don't worry about PM'ing me on it. It's better just to post threads, that way we can create another useful information source for the next guy trying to do his timing belt. :thumb:
