Hey in the midst of math class i had the outrageous idea for an engine swap. Not just a 4g63 but maybe a supra or JDM motor. I know what your thinkin but with a little help from a few of my friends we can do it. I know it sounds a little blasphemous but its at the sake of horsepower. one of the few things my dsm is lackin. what do ya'll think. Oh and im thinkin rear wheel drive too. I want to spank this 240sx amd a certain Civic w/ gsr swap and my dad's 1970 Challenger with the legendary 440 6 pack. . oh and my teachers LS1 Camaro. I think that about it for now. I'm sure there will be more on the hitlist though. .

well, I sure hope you have a buttload of money on hand because the ammount of custom fab work that'll need to get done will be incredible. Instead of chopping the shit out of a perfectly good talon, why not buy a supra? the way you talk you should be able to afford one. Kudos for dreaming up the idea but in all honesty it's not going to work. Sorry if I sounded like a dick but just thought I'd throw out a bit of a reality check

if you put a 2jzgte in an eclipse it imo will be the perfect car. make sure you single turbo it with a huge turbo. gool luck with the spooning of the car my friend but a small block v8 in a miata and it was a biooooach. but it takes off on 2 wheels now.

a 2JZGTE straight up won't fit, the block is far to long to be fit in an engine bay meant for a transversely mounted, 4 cylinder engine

Moneys not a real big object right now due to the knowledge and abilities between me and some friends. Im the fab guy and theres a couple computers geeks i know. . they come in handy sometimes. My buddy from the Dodge dealership who has been a mechanic there for over five years. We've bout got it covered. Oh we also have the beverage guys. they run and get the beer. but im not definate on the supra. possibly a gt-r rb26dett. just throwin out ideas. im likin both right now but what do ya'll think will carry the most power?

ok, before you go dropping thousands of dollars on this shouldn't you think this through? not saying it can't happen but is the amount of money it is going to take to make a skyline or supra engine and drivetrain fit in our frame really worth the outcome ? all the power to you if you do it but money could be spent better imo.

if you want a 2jzgte...just buy a MK 4 supra...it will probably cost just as much!
then you could spank all the ferrari's and lamborgini's from a roll-on race on the highway

For all the money that's gonna be wrapped up in modifiying EVERYTHING on the eclipse... I'd say it's not worth it. You could take all that cash sink it into a 4g63t and make crazy hp, or buy another car. No question, it would be insane to do that swap and you would definitely stick out...

So which one of you brought the engine bay stretcher?

Seriously, we did A LOT of shit with Vdubs (put in v-8s, transverse engines, kitcars etc...) so I am down with the idea of stretching your imagination for the sake of doing it.....buuut...... you are generally limited to the size of your car's wheelbase. You are going to have do some MAJOR restructuring of your engine bay/front end. You would probably have to do a "nose clip" type fabrication. you would need to adapt the nose clip of the ?????? (what ever car you seem to be choosing) onto the car. If you are capable of the fabrication, then the fabrication costs little but time. Lots of it! (that doesn't include the donor car parts). It seems like you would have to come up with a hybrid car and no longer one that resembles a DSM.

Congratulations. You've just made the most ignorant post I have ever seen here on this site. Did Spilner roll up with a gutted Mk4 on a flatbed at your parent's house one afternoon while you and your crack fabrication team was enjoying some dank? Your idea is like me saying I want to fab in custom mounts for solid-fuel JATO booster rockets on my hatch so I can beat a cavalier z24, a Saleen 2 and that one SRT4 in town with half the AGP catalogue under the hood. You don't need Supra power to stomp a 240sx (unless it's owned by HKS or Signal), any Civic with any swap, or daddy's old school mucle car. That's just plain dumb. There's something to be said about taking the road less traveled, but in this case, I think that something is "retard."

Hey ya'll. im back and even more enthused about this but all you haters need to chill out. I'm not makin you do this so back off. Opinions are welcome but take the bs somewhere else. Aside from that Im likin the 3kGT motor. BUt im lookin for somethin to take a poundin and that will put out high power. My goal is a 400+ hp somewhat sleeper. Anyone with some experiece with the supra, 3kGT or the GT-R motors would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to go with a big single turbo to keep it somewhat simple. . I haven't made up my mind yet and im still plannin this out. And yes I do know what all is ahead of me so again take all the bs somewhere else. thanks. Oh and the reason im doing this is because of my loyalty to mopar and I like the looks of the car if it helps anyones feelings.

With the money you spend trying to swap the damn 2jz motor you could have built a nice 420/With Turbo. Shit with the money its going to cost you for the 2jz motor you could have got a Turbo kit and built the top end, even more prob as I do not know the going rate for a 2jz motor

i think we should give the guy a break, we all have had spontanious out of the box ideas about our cars, altho we generally dont make a thread about it. hell one time i even thought i could make my car fast! but to tell you the truth, the money your gonna put in to beat these cars, if you put that money into the 420a you already have, you could do circles around them.(well maybe not but you get the drift) whenever i have a crazy idea(not to this extent, i have a brain ) i usually come to my senses in a couple days and forget about it, i think you will too.

Swapping a 4g into a honda, no probs, the size won't really limit you on that one. But what you're talking about.. especially if you just want 400hp is kinda ... well not so bright.
If you do it, it'll stand out and be different, but there's still gonna be someone with a 4g63t that will spank you...

I'd quit callin people haters when a lot of the guys on here know dsms REAL well and know what they're talking about. It's not just "hater bs" If you're so loyal to mopar, sell your eclipse. Or do one of the other swaps the guys just mentioned.
