Does weight make a difference?

i have seen a couple street driven honda's that run 12's that all within a few hours of my house. you arent gonna have many street driven or track driven turboed cars that run faster than that. the power steering thing though, i wouldnt remove the whole unit, maybe just the belt for track use only, how bad do you need to win on the street? if the race is that important just get under there and cut the belt off before the race cause the race is probably more important that a 15 dollar belt.

yes a 15 dollar belt is the least of my problems. I was just wondering about taking the power steering out because it seems easier to just have it out for weight and drag reduction. Does anyone know how much the whole unit weighs?
