Does anyone know what this hole is for?

I noticed this tapped hole on my block (that I've never noticed before for some reason), which ends up under the T-belt tensioner pulley/motor mount bracket.

The block is a 1G 6-bolt 4G63T. Anyone know why it's there?

I went out and looked at my motor and that hole is covered by the metal shield that goes to the timing cover. But seen nothing going into it. Strange?

same here....timing belt heat sheild covers the hole.

I know...so the question remains...why is it there?

I know it has to be because on some other version of a 4G63 block, something is quite different. But I can't find anything about it.

It doesn't matter at all.... I'm just curious about it.
