Does anybody know the potential of these things? Reason is becuase my friend has one and was talking about he found a Porsche turbo and could have bought it and ran 10's....I gave him the b/s becuase his car runs a 16 stock....he said he would have to "redu his valves, and he can adjust the fuel"......Now I think we would have all heard of this car if it had that much potential stock....someone provide some information becuase I know strapping on a bigger turbo on any car will not make it run tens.....

No way it will run 10s by just dropping a big snail in it. He will need the proper supporting mods, and even then it wont probably be running 10s, probably more around 13s.
EDIT*** Not sure but when I searched for dodge daytona I came up with this...--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well thats what I came up with not sure if any of those are what your friend has, and I truely doubt any of those would make 10s with just a turbo.
Also since this post doesnt pertain to DSMs try posting it in the lounge.
This stuff came off of http://www.allpar.com/model/daytona.html#spec

I dont doubt that the daytona's can make 12s and 10s, but just adding a turbo to get there?I dont think so.Also what would it matter if it were a porshe turbo or not? There are better turbo's out there probably for that car.

EDIT**** Guy below me. What does your post have to do with the original question? No one denied that they were fast or could be fast, but the kid just wanted to know it adding a turbo on to the car would make it jump from 16s to 10s.

guys are you kidding me? They are the SAME thing as the Mitsubishi Starion. Think of it like the Eclipse and the Talon, different company same thing same potential. There are alot of starions that run like bats outta hell and I've seen a few daytonas that way myself.

You have it confused with the Chrysler Conquest, which was the Starion's twin.

The Dodge Daytona can be made to run 10's. How do I know this? Because there is a NJ DSM'er who had a 10 second Dodge Omni. He sold that omni, turned around and picked up a Dodge Rampage (looked like the El Camino version of a K-car) and built that thing up to run 10's.

All of these K-cars that Chrysler put out in the 80's (Caravan, Daytona, Aries, Rampage, Shadow, 600) had the same engine and transmission. All of these cars share the same parts with the Omni GLH-S and other monstrosities that Carroll Shelby built for Dodge. These engines can take a hell of a beating and then come back for more. If you break them, you can just pull a junkyard part from any K-car and slap it in and be back up and running.

If a Dodge Caravan can put the smack down on a Supra (and I'm sure you've all seen that video) then there's no reason why you can't build up a 10-second Daytona.

Yekrahs, go to the NJDSM board (turbocarz.com/njdsm) and look for Mike Radowski. He's the man who built those k-cars. When you're done there, go to www.turbododge.com, and those guys will be more than willing to help you on your way.

Can a daytona do 10s? YES. just by a turbo and supporting mods? NO....

going fast is a money game... Hell I can make my moped go 3.443 at 298 mph... but i dont have the milloins to do that getting back to the actual question of can his dumb bs buddie run a 10 by putting a magical porche turbo on it, NO.....

Oh yea sorry bout the mix up I knew it was one of the two, my friend had both as he is a Dodge and Crysler fan. Either way these cars are nothing to be frowned upon. Basically any car with a decent turbo setup can be made to run quick times with the right set up.

it depends on the year, i'm sure 10's is outrageous with just a turbo, but i know the bottom end can take a lot of abuse stock. if he has the SOHC there is no way, even if you port them they aren't worth it dollar/dollar, go to the junkyard and find a DOHC. a buddy of mines brother has a spirit running 20psi and he is putting down about 320whp.

everything is a little ass backwards in the car though, and they are kind of a pain to work on, in comparison to other cars imo. the turbo and exhaust manifold are on the "back" of the block, and stuffed in there as well.
