Do I really need a tune with these mods?

just wondering if I'll really need a tune, or if stock maps will take care of it.

Mods are in my profile, but basically:

FMIC, 2.25" pipes
Intake
2.5" exhaust
255 walbro
AFPR
stock turbo
stock injectors

I have emanage hooked up right now, but its confusing compared to other tuning things (I've worked with crome on hondas, much easier)

Right now I don't have the afpr, and im showing 200-300% volume efficiency in my log on emanage, which I am working on bringing those down to 100%, but my pocketlogger isnt' working to good, so I'm not sure how rich/lean im running, timing, or knock (although no audible sound) It runs like crap pretty much. Kinda slow, and when I start hitting boost it bogs because, I'm assuming, I'm running to rich. also gas mileage sucks, which is another reason I think I'm running rich.

Once I get my AFPR installed what boost would I be safe at? I want to bump it up to 18psi with a tune, but on a stock map will it only be safe up to 15psi?

Thanks for the help.
Wsn't sure if this was a newb question or not, but I just got back into DSMs so not a complete newb, but new to the 2007 scene :thumb: .

I would recomend getting your logger set up and get an safc. Deffinatley hook the afpr up. With the 255 you are way rich. And to your question, yes using a 255 you need to tune to get your car to run right.

if your going to be running higher boost you'll need bigger injectors to give the added fuel. the stock injectors can only flow so much

I have emanage guys ;)

edit: Do I have to have bigger injectors?

You stated stock injectors , 450cc.So yes bigger injectors needed..
Also even after installing the AFPR , turning the boost to 18 is a waste as the t-25 falls on its face after 5-6K and anything over 14-15 psi.Stock bov???then its gonna leak above 13 psi also.

-edit-sorry , re-read your prifile , type-s answered one of my questions:coy:

You do know 1g's dont have t25's right?

For the OP you need to get yourself some 550 injectors and go to the dyno. Since you have all the supporting mods you will make good power. You may have trouble with fuel cut but with the emanage you should beable to compensate for it. Its not like the 14b push's much air.

You can always through in a 2g maf before you have it dyno tuned also. If I was you I would get 550's and a 2gmaf. Install them the day before you go to the dyno. They will compensate enough so you can drive it but any boost will cause knock so dont boost it. Most dyno shops can tune greddy since its used on many nissans, hondas ect.

Install the AFPR, set it to stock specs. Get some larger injectors and then you can up the boost some. As long as you have a way to tune those injectors (which you do) you'll be fine. But for now just get that afpr installed since you are over running the stock one now, causing you to run rich.

I'll probobly just end up street tuning it. THe money its goign to cost me to get these mods will break me for the next couple months, once i get some more money ill have it professionally tuned.

A tune would be good even on a stock set-up with tuning mod's just to get the most out of it...I would tune it in after most mod's so you get the max out-put from them. People can get a tune pretty dang close by street tuning them, but you have to know what you are doing.

Life is a learning process, learn to fish or pay forever;) .

Its real hard to street tune Greddy just because I dont know how. If you can do it than best of luck. My mechanic can tune, safc, dsmlink, aem, all of them, except greddy because of the cell format. Its real confusing.

Yes, I know. I'm in the process right now. Most likely ill get the greddy tuned by a pro, then once i get some more money ill get DSMlink and tune myself

Thats good, my brother payed about $150 to have it tuned. Not bad for a 100whp increase. Greddy actually works really well if you have all the harness's, you can tune about 750 injectors with the timing control but thats about it. I would get this setup tuned and wait till last to get dsmlink. Thats what my brother is doing.

Man , I have no idea how that happened, have no idea how I thought 2G.I must have really been in a hurry that day.
now even more:coy:
