Do I need a thicker headgasket???

I just got my head milled down 30/1000 of an inch and I was wondering if I neededa thicker head gasket than stock. Also what is the distance between the valves and the piston head at their closes point? 91 4G63T

Who cares IF you need one, just get an MLS HG, couldn't hurt and its better anyway

If the headgasket is normal size and the head was milled then the valves can hit the pistons and thta is a BIG problem!

You wont run into piston to valve issues with .030 milled off the head only and none on the block.If you are running after market cams then I would look into it further but if your stock you will be fine. I would just run the stock oem HG with ARP studs torqued to 75-80 lbs and be done with it. Make sure the head and block surfaces are very clean for best possible seal and gasket life.

what if the head was resurfaced once before?

I would get a MLS metal gasket then. Its slightly thicker.
