I have a 1st gear grind. I thought maybe it'd be the shifter but I'm not too fimilar wih trannys and even when the car is off, I can't put it in second. Any help is nice and would a video be helpful?

When I start the car my idle is at 1.5 drops to 1,my pedal I'm not too sure and the fluid was changed about 1k ago

To check the pedal, you will have to crawl under the dash, the pushrod coming from the master cylinder is kinda tough to find, but when you find it there will be threads at the pedal-end of the rod. You can adjust engagement a bit by loosening or tightening the nut at the end of the rod. When do you start to feel pedal resistance? When you push on the clutch pedal, there should only be about 1/2" of travel before you feel resistance. If you dont feel resistance, you will more than likely need to bleed the clutch. If it is not any of those, it is known that DSM trannies are notchy. Gear grinds are common. What you can do to fix it is to take the tranny apart and have new bearings and syncros put in. If you are not comfortable doing it, you should bring it to a shop or have a friend who knows how to rebuild these trannies do it.

In my opinion, if you ever had your tranny changed before, it could be that the shift linkage or the pivot arm on the tranny itself is wrong, from models to models the arm slightly changes. i previously bought a TSI that grinded a bit in first gear too, probably was from the short or longer pivot arm, besides that it grind alot on the low gears, so i jus consider a whole new tranny swap since i have no tranny rebuild knowledge, after the swap my car runs fine and it shifts now :thumb:

and the clutch bled thingy, im sure you can still shift when the car is off without pressing the clutch... and btw im not advising you to do a swap just my .02

First thing I would do is bleed your clutch.

i've got the same issue. before i bled the clutch line it wouldn't go into gear at all and after bleeding i get a small bit of grind with 1st and 2nd. mentioned it too my bro and he told me too make sure when you bleed the clutch to use about 2ft of aquarium hose and put it in the bottle of break fluid (with some fluid in the bottle) and the other end on the bleed valve. make sure when you turn the valve only open it just enough to say you can see the fluid coming out slowly, otherwise it can suck a bit of air back in through the threads if opened too much. gonna try this tomorrow and see if using the line in bottle fixes it.

So it is only grinding when going into 1st gear? Does it pop out of gear at all? Could be more than just pedal adjustment or could be just that. Lots of variables.
