So my 1st upper radiator hose popped a leak, and no shops in 50 miles of me has a 2g upper radiator hose. So i bought a 1g just to try and strech it so i could get to the store. It was all going fine til i pulled up to a stop light and realized smoke was coming from under the hood. The 1g hose slipped off while i was driving, so allowing are to get sucked into the radiator.

My question is do i have to do a complete radiator flush or can I just put on the new hose i ordered online and fill up the reservoir?

Thanks.

Just fill it up. A flush is maintenance and they typically vacuum the whole system while it's hot, and flush with water or new coolant. I really don't see how this is healthy as you are putting cold water into a hot motor instantly (cracked block or head, blown head gasket?), but a lot of quick lube type places do it this way. Take a light bulb that is too hot to touch and put it in water.

Just put on the new hose, top off the radiator, and fill up the reservoir. Let it warm up to temperature (till fans kick on) so you know the thermostat has opened and make sure the reservoir is still full and you should be good to go. Make sure you are at the full cold line in the reservoir once it has completely cooled back down and you are good for sure.:thumb:

If u havent done a radiator flush and the car is pretty high miles, than it wouldnt hurt to do one.

The body has 99xxx miles on it, the engine has 3100. I'm not sure if the guy i bought it from did a flush. He had 3 other Talons in his driveway that were his projects with his team. So i assume they took care of most simple tune up items.

A flush is not for the radiator it is for the whole system. If the engine only has 3100 miles on it then that's the maximum age of the coolant. A flush is something done on a running car as maintenance. If you do an engine swap and put new coolant in then that is the same as getting a flush done. There is also the lazy flush that is putting an additive in something to help clean a system that is neglected and THEN you replace the fluid.
