Do any of you regret buying it?

hell no i absolutely love my eclipse. probably because i have wanted one for a long time. i also got a really good deal. i only paid 5000 and it is in excellent conditiion. the only thing was it has high miles 98000. but it runs great.

Do I regret buying my car? HELL YES! My car has been nothing but trouble since I bought it. Somedays I want to torch her. My car is also slow. Must be something wrong with it that I don't see. I guess it is all up to what kind of experience you have with your car. I want to sell her so bad, but I cannot at this time. Would I buy one again, definately not.

That's my opinion of DSMs.

BTW I have a 1997 GSX.

I "did" regret buying an eclipse because:
first of all I was saving up for a WRX :X, but I didn't get to save up that much because I crashed my first car (91' Integ.) and I only saved up enough to get an affordable car, yet sporty.
Second I decided to purchase the eclipse which I was kinda happy because I needed a car. A week later i started to regret it because it was a N/T and there wasn't much room inside the cockpit.
Third, I ended up being happy with my car because N/T's don't have a crankwalk problem and all the car's on this forum motivate me that N/T's can be fast.

YES!!!!!!! 95 non turbo Talon.120,000 ( i know high miles what did I expect) Owner had a stack of rec's for everything done to the car. She really took great car of it.................Car drove and checked out great. Spent a good 3-4 hours checking it over.. Drove it for 4 weeks and tranny went..... It took out the case.. OK 1700.00 later. Now it took out the cam belt tens.. I just started pulling it apart and it does not look good....If I knew then what I know from this group it would have been a manu turbo, not a auto non turbo......Anyone looking for a talon at a really good price????!!!!!!!

Every second that goes by I regret getting this car. I can go on and on why I hate it but heres a few. Its SLOW. NO ACCELERATION. MAKES THE LOUDEST NOISE EVER HEARD WHEN BRAKING IN REVERSE. EMBARRASSED TO BRAKE IN REVERSE. ITS A MONEY PIT. NOT A TURBO. SLOW. MAKES SQUEAKING NOISES ALL THE TIME. SPOILER LEAKING. SPENT OVER $3000.00 IN REPAIRS STILL A PIECE OF SHIT. WILL NEVER BUY A CAR THIS OLD EVER AGAIN.

i'm slowly starting to regret it more and more each day. everyday, a new problem. every new problem, three more problems on top of that one.

i'm no longer shooting for the fastest or nicest looking DSM, rather, the DSM that breaks down least often. but hey, i guess that's what owning a DSM is all about...

I just purchased my first DSM ever. I have been looking for one for years! I wanted an AWD or nothing. I purchased this car from a friend of a friend so I knew it was in decent condition.

When I pruchased it the car had 125k miles, new Big16g turbo, rebuilt motor at 100k. The clutch was bad and the tranny was grinding when shifting into 2nd gear and the valve cover leaked oil.. Well I purchased it for 3200.

This is by far an awesome car and I would not sell it for the life of me. Sure I have spent enough on it to own a nice camaro but hey I love it.

First purchased the car and installed an ACT2600 Clutch, 2 weeks later the starter went out. Replaced that. The alternator cables were frayed and needed replacing. The valve cover still leaks.. I have to check oil daily. I have purchased a new valve cover and I am waiting until it warms up so I can replace it. Over all, I have spent close to 2k and still need summer tires/rims for the car. So when it comes down to it, This car has costed me 5-6k total including all the other miscellanious stuff done to it. However, I beat mustangs all day long, I beat my buddies AWD 6.0 C3 Chevy that he brags about and practically any other car out there besides the new svt's and some camaro's. However, they are in a rude awaking for my new mods this summer.. I expect to put about 10k into the car total including the price of the car... It will run high 10's for sure too. I will post the times as soon as I get the upcoming mods! :D

Exactly, all the probs i have and i wouldnt sell it, plus with the 1g's u gotta expect stuff to break, i mean the cars are old, mines 12 years old, got mine for 3500, had to put new brakes on, and buy new tires, did that when i bought it, then no money had to go into it for over a year, until recently, 140 bucks for an oilpan, and oil return pipe. Its not a waste of money, cause anything i put into the car to make it run better isnt a waste, even if its maintenance right now.

I kinda regret buying mine cuz it's a n/t. But i will change that a.s.a.p. I need to get it rebuilt anyway so I'll get it turbo ready when I get the rebuild. but overall it's been a great car. runs strong even at 136k, no problems. been driving it for about two years now and NOTHING has gone wrong. Very reliable, people say what they want about DSM but I turn the key and she starts every time without hesitation even when it's freezing outside. but I feel the best about it now. Even though it's slow as Christmas, it's the hands down cleanest car at my school. I recently painted it northstar white and put the full blitz kit on it and a glasspack muffler. It's a great feeling when I'm parked next to a $25,000+ car and all eyes are on me in a car I payed $4,000 for.

Me, so far hell no.... car has 175,764 miles on it.. has been driven hard as #### by the previus owner.. still runs like a champ.. clutch is burned out almost completely though so right off the bat i am haveing to spend about $400 and thats doing the work myself plus there are gaskits leaking like on the turbo to manifold.. so i am gona replace as many freaking gaskits as i can find on that engine!

but even though i can't drive it and it's just siting there all pretty taunting the hell outa me.. and pissing me off cause i cant drive it.. I do not regret it one freakin bit! ;)

Slap yourself silly if you buy one really old with high miles. Always look for the best deal. www.dsmtrader.com is a good resource to remember if you have to buy one abroad.

I sold my car with 152,000 miles and a transmission that was gone, starting to need a paint job, needed new shocks and struts, recharge to 134 refrigerant for the air conditioning, passenger window very slow to come up sometimes and it needed new VALVE STEM SEALS a.s.a.p. other than that it was a bad ass ride and looked sweet as hell. My suggestion is to get one with lower miles and in better mechanical condition if at all possible. I still sold my DSM for $1,500 even with a dead transmission all all the above stated problems so who can say that is a bad for resale value;)

Only thing I regret is not having enough money to get a 2G used from Florida in like new condition and the silly ass bickering on the DSM Tuner forums about Rice and sh!t. Other than that no complaints.:dsm:

I dont but come to think of it I didnt buy the car but the car my mom did (I know people are laughing about my mom buying my car) but if I had bought the car I would not have regreted it because I wanted to get a 97 style eclipse so bad I told my mom that I would make like 110's on like everything in school (I know people are lauging about that two) and I finally talked her into liking them (took about six-ten months to do)
I even think she likes the car more than me but back on the question no i dont :D

BMWs and Audi are too damn expensive, even used, and I only buy below 100k, they are pricey, don't even get me started on Benz

I was hesitant about buying a car like this, after dealing with all domestics. Especially the turbo part.

I gotta say, I love this lil red laser ;)
It was well taken care of, and runs like a top. It has a few flaws, but nothing major.

Great car.....my ONLY complaint though - is that I wish it was AWD. That woulda been cool, but for $900, I can NOT complain.....

ya i think i change my mind. I mean, im not even trying to have some huge 400+ hp car or anything, ide just like to be able to drive it more than 1 day with out something new breaking on it, a car u cant drive is a pointless car. Im looking for some point a to point b clunker car now.

What kind of stuff has broken on your car?

Let me start my list:

Harmonic Dampener (damn it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that sucked)

Radio (replaced that sucker, WTF is up with that, the radio!!!)

Antenna (won't go up and down, oh well)

Bent rims (not my fault)

Won't align (danm sucker who owned it last got in a wreck)

Paint (Must have been taken to a chimp after the car was wrecked to be painted)

Tranny (She ain't like she used to be)

Random other stuff

Brake Rotors continue to warp (WTF I replaced them and they warp all the time. I don't drive like a maniac and slame on my brakes either, Maybe I'll get some better rotors)

Actaully she hasn't broken stuff on me for a while. Maybe I'm getting a little bit more respect. Eh, maybe not.

Yea like Misundastood said about the WS6, this should keep me going till I get my 928 or 944 Turbo :) :) :)

-fixed-
cv joints
brakes
tires
oil pan
oil return pipe
coolant leak(s)

-still to be fixed-
got idle surge
got oil in my spark plug well furthest one to the left.
cracked exhaust manifold
leaky transfercase
leaky power steering.

its one of those things like, oil leak was so bad, it was up on ramps forever, i finally get it fixed, and i drive it 2 days, and i get a coolant leak. fix the coolant leak now i got idle surge, dunno wtf to do about that(i know what to do, just dont have funds for it), cause i dont even have money for carb cleaner or coolant, also no coolant in the upper radiator pipes, some im thinking the thermostat is out possibly. Got an evo III exhaust manifold, and i cant get the old one off for the life of me, that damn stud. just pissing me off cause i want to drive the car.. not just have it look pretty up on ramps in the garage. I mean it wouldnt piss me off, if i actually got to drive it more than 1 day every 3 weeks.
