Do alignment shops adjust front camber bolts?

I know 1g has no front camber adjustability. I am going to a really nice alignment shop (Ptuning) to get my stuff perfect.

I called and asked about doing cam bolts, I cannot figure any way to adjust them my self without taking the wheel off. And if the shop has to remove wheels to do camber they will $$$$$$$ me.

I guess the rep I spoke to didnt know for sure if the wheel has to come off.

If they will charge me then I will try to ball park it on my own.

Anyone have experience with cam bolts on the front strut and taking it in for alignment? Has anyone had to pay extra for this adjustment?

I would hope not, since many subarus come factoy with this type of bolt for adjust-ability. and I suppose crash repair shops use these and call them crash bolts.

I wouldn't charge you at my shop. If a vehicle has points of adjustability and they need to be adjusted, then they get adjusted. The only time I charge extra is if the vehicle is severely lowered and/or requires more than 1.5 hours to align. Can't speak for other shops but I would just ask the writer before you sign the R.O.

when I worked at pep boys many years ago we would just charge for an alignment and nothing more. just depended if it needed new parts or not depends if we would charge more than just the standard rate.

never seen a wheel come off for an alignment. would think it would be unsafe having the car on a jack stand on the alignment rack considering how much you might be cranking on some of the alignment bolts to break rusted parts free.

Only thing with an alignment is go someplace reputable. just because its expensive doesnt mean they are going to do a better job. Its all in the equipment and skill of the alignment tech of getting everything zero'd

Wheels come off all the time. Most computerized alignment systems include a rack with 2 integrated jacks. Many vehicles require the suspension to be unloaded when adjusting camber and/or caster.

never knew that. every shop i have seen adjust everything from the bottom of the car without removing the wheels

learn something new everyday.

I have replaced every single bolt with new, (or removed all rust and added antiseize) to everything except the passenger outer tie rod end. There will be no issues there (pb soaked it just in case)

The camber bolts up front are not rusty at all.

And this shop is a dedicated race shop. They do excellent alignments, I cant say about other services, but everyone I see go there gets excellent results, mirrored alignments, and pretty much exactly as requested if its physically possible by the vehicles range of adjustment.

So any competent shop can and includes cam bolt adjustments, even if its aftermarket?

When I used to do alignments at a shop we never charged anything more if you did not need new parts. even if parts we stuck it was the same charge because our price had that factor worked in. It was only like 80 bucks at the time or so (about 7-8 years ago). And when we would take tires off, which the alignment rack has lifts on it anyways, we wouldnt charge more for it. And for adjusting anything to do with an alignment, as long as the car has parts to make it adjust, we would adjust the part accordingly to come up in the specs of the recommended specs of the manufacture.
