2G DIY door cards

Show your DIY door cards! I’ve been trying to find on these cars but I can’t seem to find anyone with DIY cards. I like how they look and plan to go with a alcantera wrap on it. I wanna see who has done it before though.

I haven't DIY'd a set, but I have done some research into doing 2g door cards and I decided to go with a set of Carbonetics drag door panels and a manual window conversion instead of making them out of aluminum and wrapping them. Reason being I chose the Carbonetics door cards was mainly aesthetics, the 2g doors have a stamped "bump out" on the top so you can't just go in there with a flat sheet of aluminum and bolt it into place. Below is a 2g door with a flat aluminum door card, you can see the top half of the door that would require some fancy bends to cover.

I see, I was planning on doing some sort of flexible plastic. But that gives me an idea. I did notice that bump and was thinking what if I cut the top piece of oem door card and get creative and piece them together. I’m gonna do it just trying to see what others have done and get ideas.

Not sure if you plan on going to a manual window crank as well, but with some patience you can find them for ~$50 to $70 a side on eBay.

Yeah definitely gonna be trial and error a few times but ima make a DIY how to thread when I finish with all.

I was actually thinking a lot on a manual window just because I wanna get rid of that switch for lock and window. I have to get a LH door actuator because past order broke the rod for lock switch, and LH window is broken so yeah it gives me even more reason to switch to manual if I’m gonna be in there anyways

If all fails for the window and actuator I might just change the entire door to a RS door.

Many of the RS models had power locks and windows. I've never actually seen one with mechanical options. Without knowing the production numbers, I'd argue that the electric options were much more common. The swap would save a couple extra pounds though, if you can get your hands on the parts. At some point the window crank handles were repop by Dorman. The rest probably needs to be used OE.

I posted this info in a different thread that the OP was asking about 2g's coming with manual windows, but all the info I pulled was from my dealership brochures I've collected over the years... Not saying you haven't been in RS's with power windows/power locks, but the '95 - '97 Eclipse brochures that I have access to don't show this as even being an optional upgrade on the RS. Maybe the '98/'99 model year RS's it was optional? I do agree though, as far as production numbers go it should 100% be more common to see a 2g with the power options vs not since it's standard on all turbo models + the GS model option.

'95 Eclipse

• ABS was optional on GSX, GS-T, and GS
• Rear wiper was standard on turbo models and optional only for GS
• Leather was standard on GSX and only optional on the GS-T
• Leather wrapped steering wheel/shift knob standard on AWD model and only optional on GS-T
• A/C was standard on turbo models, optional on N/T
• Power windows/locks standard on turbo models, only optional on GS
• Sunroof was optional on ALL models

'96 Eclipse

• ABS was optional on GSX, GS-T, GS-T Spyder, and GS (GS Spyder didn't have the option)
• Rear wiper was standard on turbo models and optional only for GS
• Leather was standard on GSX and GS-T Spyder and optional for GS-T, GS, and GS Spyder***
• Leather was standard on GSX and GS-T Spyder and optional for GS-T, GS, and GS Spyder***
• A/C was standard on turbo models, optional on N/T
• Power windows/locks standard on turbo models, only optional on GS and GS Spyder
• Sunroof was optional on ALL models accept Spyder

'97 Eclipse

• ABS was optional on GSX, GS-T, GS-T Spyder, and GS (GS Spyder didn't have the option)
• Rear wiper was standard on turbo models and optional only for GS
• Leather was standard on GSX and GS-T Spyder and optional for GS-T, GS, and GS Spyder
• Leather was standard on GSX and GS-T Spyder and optional for GS-T, GS, and GS Spyder

The only thing that changes between the Talon's options were the power doors/windows. The TSi AWD came standard with them, but the ESi and TSi had them optional as part of a package.
