disconnected all vac lines.. now CEL

I took all my emissions vac lines off yesterday and when I went to start my car, I had a CEL... anybody know what would have caused this? Maybe I ripped the wire off the knock sensor?
 
Well if you ripped the wire off, you will know. And you shouldnt have even touched the knock sensor if you were cleaning up the emissions stuff. What all did you remove? We need more details. Goto auto zone and have them read your code, thats always helpful too.
 
I took off the vac lines that go from the throttle body to the emissions solenoids on the driver side of the car... The only one left on was the one for the fuel solenoid (the one in the middle) which I left hooked up.... the lines run under the intake manifold through the support bracket for the intake manifold.... And yes, I plugged all the holes where the lines were running..

How will I know if I ripped it off? Will the car run funny?
 
The knock sensor doesnt have anything to do with any vac lines. It is connected to your harness and it is torqued into the back of the block. Your best bet is to drive to auto zone and get the code read, then come back.
 
Jesus... I JUST SAID THAT I DISCONNECTED THE LINES AND I MAY HAVE ACCIDENTLY PULLED THE WIRE OFF!!!! I never said it had anything to do with the vac lines... I just said that when I took out my emissions stuff, I got a CEL and I think I pulled the wire loose...

THEN I ASKED what would the knock sensor cause the car to do if it was disconnected... And I can read the code at home.. I dont need to go to autozone...

My question was would anything cause a CEL from me pulling off my emissions lines.... thats all... I will just read the code myself cause no one seems to understand the questions that I have asked....
 
Reach behind the damn engine and see if its off or not, it doesn't take a genius to check if a wire is connected or not.

Your car is OBD1 , so its not going to throw any codes because of the vac lines... but if you simply read the code, it will tell you exactly what is causing the CEL. All of your questions are pointless.
 
wow... you're a di*k... but its cool... I would have done it already if I was around my car... I was just asking to see if it would cause anything to happen.... I will go check, you can just... you know what... nevermind... not worth it... thanks for your help
 
well if you have the tools to read your CEL at home, then why dont you go home and do it before you post, because by knowing what code youre throwing, you might figure out why you got a CEL
 
I guess no one knows how to read... I said that I accidently may have pulled it loose... I was yanking out vac lines and one of them probably got caught on the wire...

So i guess people from stockton are idiots? hmm... very interesting jersey boy... this thread IS very funny because I asked a simple question and everyone is reading it wrong... Kinda hard to do after I stated what I wanted to know about 3 times... yup... we are idiots out here... So dumb that our stupidity travels through the internet cloud and infects all that dont understand simple questions....

again... just wanted to know if the vac lines would cause a problem.. no one knows, so I will find out my self
 
Please mind the forum rules regarding personal insults, flaming, trolling, etc. I would hate to see you guys get suspended over petty bullshit.

If you have a CEL, take the car to autozone and have them pull the code. Alternately, if you have a test light you can pull the code yourself by hooking the test probes to the upper left and lower right pins on the diagnostic port.

Turn the key to the ON position (do not start the car), and monitor the number of times the test light blinks. Note the number of long blinks, and the number of short blinks. The long blinks are the first digit, the short blinks are the second digit of the ecu error code.

I was going to do that as soon as I got a hold of my car... Im pretty sure I yanked something loose... whatever it is, its probably something dumb...
 
its the knock sensor... I just got to my car and saw that it was off the sensor.. Im about to put it back together...
