Anyone by chance know what periphery bit has the VSS check engine light on an Evo 8 ECU? The wire was broken off when I bought the car and I want to just disable the CEL until I fix it.

What's the actual OBD code you're getting?

Bit 6 in Periphery 3 (FDA) is to disable P0500 (VSS).

I'm not sure, but I'll say it anyhow; I think Beau is hinting at version limitations of evoscan. Version 2.9, for instance, will show some ECU ID code and "mis-interpret" the result when trying to pull DTC's - often falsely showing up as a VSS error.

Regardless, that's a wonderful piece of information, Beau. How were you able to determine which bit corresponded to the VSS? Are there more "unbeknownst" bits out there?
Interestingly enough, that bit is disabled by default on my ROMs.

EDIT: Beau's got you covered. Didn't realize it was a Tephra ROM.

Thanks a bunch guys! Yes it is the P0500 code. I use Evoscan 2.9 for logging and everything else but I can never pull OBDII DTCs with it. I use Evoscan 2.7 for pulling the codes. Seems silly but it works.

I swore I looked through all the bits in my ROM. Not sure how I missed that. Using Tephramod 9653 v7.

Sorry, should have specified the bit I provided was for the 9653 ROM. Been a little while since I've looked at the Evo 8 ROMs. I been messing with mostly Evo X's lately :p
