Haha I hate that sound too. I just rigged the push button on the door to stay close and rewired the lights to contant power source from ignition.

Humm of all the 2gs (7 infact) I have owned not a one had/has door chimes. I want to do the opposite and get mine working now.ROFL Locked my keys in the car to darn much b/c of no buzzer. Too used to the 07 Camry that I do not have to pull the keys out of my pocket. And the 06 Ram has the buzzer so I rarely lock my keys in that.

I want the ignition chime gone. It beeps even when the keys aren't in it. Its so annoying. I didn't even know there was a seatbelt chime. I always wear that. I think i'm a good driver but that doesn't mean everyone else is!

Remove the lower steering wheel cover and locate the 7 pin connector that runs the key reminder switch and key hole light. Connect a wire between the green/yellow wire and the black (these go to the key reminder switch) or jumper the switch if possible.

Is it possible to just entirely remove the thing that makes the damned annoying sound? I know my key is in, I put it there, and I know my damn lights are on I can see, I seriously just want my car to stfu.

If so where is the speaker/noise making unit? I don't wanna by pass it, I just want to rip it out and set it on fire.

Should be possible to just put a piece of tape over the pinhole for the speaker, that would shut it up, since the speaker would not be able to move any air to create sound.

..What I did to our KIA .. opened up the modular box and snipped the one lead running to the speaker since I knew that the box ran other functions..

Also did it to my dad's Chev P.U. .. snipped the speaker lead.. he hates that annoying "hey dumbass!' you left your key in the ignition, strap on the seatbelts, headlights on! .. BS" reminder noise ... reminds him of a nagging wife...LOL.

hey i am in the opposite situation. i keep leaving my lights on because they also run my narrowband. i haven't gotten around to changing the power source for it yet and my lights on reminder i think is disabled. where is the lights on reminder switch or control box that i can enable it again?

You realize this thread is over 17 months old.
If you're talking about the headlights on reminder, it is controlled by the the left door switch which is probably your problem (not making a good ground there when door is open).

yeah i looked at it tonight and the switch is just in there. the screw to hold it in is missing. also i read something about if the connector on the back of it has a blue mark it is supposed to be on the passenger side. is this true?

If it has a blue plastic then that's the switch for the passenger side. Go to the junkyard and take one off the drivers side. I had a passenger switch and my buzzer wouldn't work and also the key ring light wouldn't work. Switched to the correct one and all works now
