Ok so my dipstick has been popping out while I got WOT for about 2 months now. Did a little searching on here and heard about the PCV valve being bad. Well I checked mine and it was fine, even replaced it to make sure. Still popping out. Then I did a compression test, 150-150-155-150 so I dont see any real problem there. I also read somewhere even with the PCV valve working properly you can be having TOO much crankcase pressure causing the dipstick to pop out because thats the only place it can escape. Ok so my question is, how bad is it to actually go WOT. I realize its not good, but I know very little about crankcase pressure and the things it can cause.

Thanks

Well...your question i saw you asking was, "how bad is it to go WOT?" The car was built to be capable of doing it. I mean, driving around all day every day doing WOT pulls at lights isnt smart, and not cheap risking breaking something for a 20 year old car.

The engine is capable of handling much more power, so in stock form its not really "bad". Its just the wear and tear on parts over the years, its not going to be great. Parts are ment to fail and break over time, you cant change that.

I actually went down to my mechanic to pick up the new PCV valve so I'm not 100% sure what kind or where it came from other than my mechanics.
The question about going WOT is more addressed to my problem of having excessive crankcase pressure making the dip stick pop out. I go WOT maybe 4-8 times a week if that with some spirited driving. But thats the extent of it.

yes dipsticks pop out of dsms and the oil cap leaks some times to.
its not your pcv either.. get a new dipstick or wrap some tape around the rubber to tighten it up
or pick up a breather deal that goes right under the filler cap and vent it to a catch can.

I also dealt with this for a little bit then replaced the dip stick and kind of pinched the dip stick tube never had a blow out again

I had this problem with my old engine. Compression showed fine at 170 across the board. Well after the engine blew up I found that the bottom compression rings were stuck on 1 side of all 4 pistons. Top ring was fine. So compression was great but oil was getting past the bottom ring and through the ring gap on the top ring causing pressure to build. Not saying you have this issue but you never know.

"The dip stick is often usually forced out by excessive crankcase pressure. In many cases, however, this is not due to an increase in crankcase pressure - rather, it is due to a decrease in the holding power of the dip stick. Lots of these cars are over 5 years old, with many approaching the 10 year mark, and most rubber parts have lots their original resiliant nature. The rubber plug on the dip stick may have shrunk and hardened over time, causing the stick to come out more easily than before.

If replacing the dip stick rubber doesn't help, the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve is often at fault. This is an inexpensive little part that is supposed to vent excess pressure, but it can wear out or clog. A quick replacement may be in order.

Another possibility is replacing the breather hose with a small K&N valve cover filter, which will hopefully help to vent excess pressure. Bad turbo oil seals and worn piston rings are the next likely suspects."
