Edmonton,
Hey all...

Thinking about buying a BOV, checked things around...
Found 2 types...
SSQV and not SSQV (i am thinking just one membrane with the spring).
Now, there is not a tiny bit of Ricer in me, so loud whooosh when shifting doesn't make my day... wouldn't care less...

My question... which one would be better... I am have T3/4 turbo sitting on the table waiting to be put in...

Just don't vent to atmosphere and you won't be a ricer! And don't get anything Blitz! Yeah, the HKS SSQV is a very good BOV. Another would be the Greddy Type S if you can find it.. Right now I have the Apexi Twin Chamber, I think that is a pretty good BOV.

Cant go wrong with the 1g BOV, sounds good, looks good when polished, holds boost well, can be crushed to hold more boost, and very very cheap!

I don't know what venting to atmosphere has to do with being a "ricer".

Venting to atmosphere removes a restriction (2G MAF) before the turbo. With a HKS SSQV you won't be able to recirculate unless you buy a recirculation kit. Greddy does not make Type Ss anymore, but you can pick a cheap one up from www.dejonpowerhouse.com or from ebay. If you want Greddy, you can also get the new Greddy RS.

Also, you can't vent to atmosphere PROPERLY without a GM MAF and a MAFT unit. :beatentodeath:

now, all that raised another question, that is related to BOV.
Recirculate or not?

If you searched at all you would find that is the most common question on here :beatentodeath: . Short answer (because I & most others have answered this question way to many times already) if your running the stock MAS you need to recirculate. If your running a GM MAF setup then you can vent. If you checked out the FAQ's you would find there is even a sticky on this subject:

To the origional poster what exactly do you want to know about bov operation? Here's the SSQV operation:

With a stock 1G or 2G MAF - No.
With a GM MAF and MAFT - Yes, you can, if you want to.

It doesn't mean you have to, it just means you could if you choose to without having to deal with a/f issues. There are still benefits to recirculate even with a MAFT setup, mainly the shot of air to help keeping the turbo spooled in between shifts.

That's true. :thumb:

I have the GReddy Type-S recirculating currently. It holds boost like a champ and I have yet to have any problems with the adjustment screw. I would highly recommend the GReddy Type-S or Type RS.

eBay is known to have knock off Type-S BOVs though, so watch out with that.

As DGajre777 said, hit up www.dejonpowerhouse.com and take a look there.

Good luck choosing one!
