different heads on different blocks?

i was just reading through some mods people have done to their cars and i have seen that some people have a 1g block with a 2g head, and some have a 2g block with a 1g head. why are people doing this? it seems like everyone would use the head that is better, but which one is better?

basically, i am asking which head is better? is it easy to mix them? do they bolt up the same? why would you mix them?

and i have been searching and i found no definitive answer to my questions.

You won't see very many 1G blocks with 2G heads but there are a few. Mostly people that needed to replace the bottom end and didn't want to mess with the head wiring, more 95-96 than any since the cam sensor is different. And many run a 1G head on a 2G block since it flows more air and has slightly more aggressive cams.

The 1g 6bolt head and intake flow better than the 2g 7bolt. Some people put a 6bolt short block in their car and dont want to do the mods to install the matching head and intake. Some just install the 6 bolt head and intake for the added performance. A 7 bolt head on a 6 bolt block is a pia because from what I have heard, the head bolt holes need to be reamed to fit the larger studs/bolts.

2g head wont just drop onto a 1g block. ya gota open the holes up forthat config.
in general. stock to stock - 1g head = better top end. 2g head better bottom end.
most people agree that a professionally ported 2g head if the best
