Difference with faster shifting?

Thanks for the tips man, but my track doesn't give a 330 time

I'm not soo much worried about my ET, doing 88mph in the 1/8th with a 3400 lb car and pump gas shows that I'm making some decent power :thumb:

Sent you PM...uh 2 days ago! :shhh: ;)

So it doesnt damage you engine when you powershift and never give your turbo a chance to blow off??? Sounds bad to me, but I love the thrill of powershifting and did it every chance I got in my old gti VR6!:thumb:

If you don't close the throttle, there is no need for the turbo to "blow off" :thumb: B.O.V.'s are there to let the turbo slow down more gently, sorta slows spooldown rate when the throttle closes. Automatic cars' B.O.V's don't pop much, if at all in a drag race.

I am not the smallest guy by anymeans (6'4", 265) and have done my share of mishifts, including going for the 3-4 shift, and hitting 3-2 instead (OUCH). AFC read 9129 RPM's, but luckily nothing ever happened...
:)

I read this and couldn't help but poking fun at myself (and giving MAD props to the engineering of the 4g63 engine) for doing the same thing last week and turning 9260RPMS (on S-AFC) without doing any damage. Had to readjust my clutch, but all is fine (amazingly).

I too did the exact same thing a few years ago, hit 9470, motors still going strong :thumb:

Well when its really cold out the trans with slightly grind going into secound but as soon as its warm its perfect.

Shift from 1-2 does not like to be power shifted at all, 2-3 also doesnt like it but holy hell
3-4 is amazing. The shift is so fast at full throttle that I had my freind stand by on the street and he said he couldnt tell there was a shift at all.

I can shift really fast, really fast but nothing beyond that or the trans doesnt like it. I had my freind John drive the car, he put a 18G with nitrous into deeps 11s and he said the car isnt going to like it so dont try it.

3rd-4th is just so awsome! I can power shift, hondas,Fbodys, Stangs,VWs like nothing.

If your trans isnt up to it, or there are slight little perks in it, its not going to like power shifting at all.

Soon ill have a fully built trans....

I did a 3rd-2nd shift, the rev limiter pinged for a sec and when off the tac almost, never will do that again!!!

Also replace all the shifter parts, cables, do that bearing mod, all kindas stuff and maybe get a Mofungus modifeid short throw shifter for us 1G guys.

He cuts it down, shortens the whole shifter assembly and also has stoppers etc its around 160 bucks....

Ive done the bearing mod along with a symborski kit. I have to say that it seems much harder on the trans now. If you think about it now that theres no rubber to soften the blow, the shift forks are taking all of the force. Personally I think its a good thing to at least leave the rubber bushings in favor of the bearings to soften the blow to the tranny when shifting fast. Ill be going back to new ruber bushings.

You should pull your tranny and inspect the flywheel bolts. They normally loosen due to vibration. Just because the car runs doesn't mean you didn't do any "damage." :boring:
