I've search around this forum for a topic on differences in the 1G 4g63 DSM motor and couldn't come up with any matches. Im in the process of getting a new head for my 92 GSX. I found one off of a 92 Talon TSI (I believe) which was manual tranny FWD. I wanted to know if there is any difference in the head because I noticed the the mold of the head was a little different different (the way the head was molded from the factory). From what I have researched is that these are some of the differences between the motors:

1) The turbo automatic tranny uses smaller fuel injectors and uses a smaller turbo.
2) The N/A 2.0 4g63 uses a higher compression head.

My question is that is there any difference between the MT turbo heads from the 1G Eclipse GS-T, GSX, Talon TSI and Laser RS Turbo?

Basically in theory all 4g63 (90-99) turbo and non-turbo will bolt right up.

We have basically 4 to play with
-1G 90-94 non-turbo 4g63
-1G 6 bolt motor (90 - early 92) 4g63
-1G 7 bolt motor (late 92 - 94) 4g63
-2G 7 bolt motor (95-99) 4g63
CAMS IN ALL OF THEM DO HAVE DIFFERENCES SO KEEP YOUR CAMS.
The main difference is that 2G heads have smaller intake/exhaust ports were 1G heads have bigger ports.

95-96 heads have the cam angle sensor mounted in a camgear right, as opossed to the 1G's that have it mounted directly to the left side in the intake cam. If you think about it this doesn't really matter if all you need is the HEAD itself, just swap components from one another and you're good to go.
The sensor location changes in all models and a few odds and ends, but the main HEAD STRUCTURE is the same, the bolt pattern remain untouched.

If you're swapping heads, its recommended that you at least use the same generation and just swap whatever is missing from the old head.

Please feel free to correct me if im wrong, or add more characteristics for future references if anyone has more hands on experiences.

ok what about the cam position sensor bracket (3 points) on the heads..did they ever change or was it just throttle bodies....wondering because my bracket i have wont mount up to the 90 head that i have..and my throttle body is off a 90 i believe..

Here it is. ALL 1G 2.0L heads are interchangeable. The ONLY diff. between them is the late 92-94 7 bolt head will require you to ream out the bolt holes approx 1mm, while using it on an earlier 90-92 6 bolt block. EVERYTHING else is exactly the same.

As far as your #2 point, that is incorrect. The pistons are what changes the compression. The heads are the same between N/A and turbo. If you want to change your compression ratio via the head, swap on a 91-94 Hyundai Elantra head onto the car. Those heads come with a 43cc combustion chamber, vs 47cc for a DSM head. Will bump up compression approx. .6CR.
