I was wondering what the difference was between the first and third engines on this website: http://www.jdm-motor-engines.com/Products.asp?FormName=Search&FormAction=search&category_id=5&name=

As far as I can tell the only difference is that one comes with a turbo and the other one doesn't. If there is more to it than that please let me know (I find it hard to believe that a used stock turbo is worth $1000+ seeing that that is the difference between both engines). Im not going to use the stock turbo so am I better off just getting the $600 4g63 engine without the turbo?

Thanks for your help.

If you want turbo awd then buy a turbo awd dont make one...this is not monster garage and you are not jesse james.n/t car are meant for daily drivers, turbo cars are meant for performance.

The answer to your question; Then dirrerence is compression ratio...the n/t motor has higher compression ratio. If you decide to force feed a n/t motor then make sure you measure how far the head went into the air after it blew off the motor and so we can all laugh because of all the money you wasted on a hack job...I've been to that movie.

first off why swap a 420A non turbo for a 4g63 non turbo. It's not worth it. Keep the 420A replace rods and pistons then put on an HRC turbo kit. This is a lot more practical.

That's what I though then I searched through dsmtuners and found some threads that said the rods are the same.

Now I'm not doubting your intelligence here, but I want to say something you should think about. First, do you know how different these engines are? It's something similar as dropping the 4G63T into my (old) honda accord's bay. COMPLETELY different! And personally, if I was going to do a HUGE project such as this, I'd pick something more of a sleeper like a Neon with the same 420A engine, shit an AWD turbo neon would have balls...seriously I'd consider that before spending tons of money to reproduce something they already made (2G GSX), if you want to do a major project like that.

But as far as the motor aspect itself, I'd go with a readily available, cheaper, 6-bolt 4G63 NT engine, and build it up. I hope you weren't planning to drop a stock 4G63T into a project like this.

Well good luck and I hope you think about my idea if you are serious about the project, I mean in the end it'll just be a GSX, but a neon GSX would turn ####in heads :D Good luck!!

Ok let me just clear something up. First though Id like to thank everyone for replying. And thank you for not being complete assholes about it.

Now Ill explain why im not simply buying a 2G GSX. Because alot of you guys seem to be suggesting it. Im am completely aware that buying a GS and swapping everything is a waste of money. But I had to buy my car with my own money and I only had enough for a GS at the time. And I needed a car. So I went ahead and bought it. Then I bought a new system, painted it, dynamatted the entire car, installed a CAI, Did a bunch of wieght reduction, removed my spoiler, and just really got to know my car. I spent countless hours and nights with it and I was really proud of everything I accomplished because I didnt know a thing about cars before this summer. So I guess you could say me and my car have a special bond that will not break no matter how much money I have to go through. Also I have put so much money into it so far it would also be a waste to sell it. This summer I have a really good job lined up where Ill ###### make around $10,000 so Im planning on putting almost all of it into my car. Buying a GSX is out of the question. Selling my car is also out of the question. So that leaves me with the option of keeping the car I have and making it into the car I really want. Plus I want to go through the process of swapping an engine because I think Ill learn so much about cars and engines and everything and Ill have pride in myself and my car. Kinda cheesy but its true.

I also know people who have done this swap in the past and it was my understanding that this was a pretty common swap because I always hear about people doing it so I dont know why everyone is thinking it is so rediculous. I know atleast 10 people on this site that have done it before.

So to conclude... I want to do this. I know its a lot of money and hassel but its what im doing and I know what Im getting into. Right now I just need to make sure I know as much as possible so I dont screw anything up or forget anything important. But any other comments will be helpful.

By the way I wont be doing this by myself. I plan on working with professional mechanics that do engine swaps all the time. I just want to know about my specific engine so Ill be more knowledgable than them while I help them do the swap and I can answer some of their questions or problems.

Well If you took the time to read all of this awesome and thank you. If not im sure you will continue to ask why I am doing this and suggest I just buy a GSX.

I know this is an older post but...
the heads are slihtly differnt, the turbo head has a differnt part # on the valve seat and the exaught valves. I have ran a nonturbo head with no problem but Sealed Power, and Beck Arnley have differ part#s.
