Did wheel spin break something in my car?

Long story short. That's a bimmer wanted to race me this morning. It was raining and the road was all wet and we're at a stop light. When it turned green I slipped my clutch out and launched it not so much spin. But when I shifted to 2nd gear the tires broke loose it was mad spin and until I realized it it was already like 7000rpm and it spinned like crazy. I shifted it to 3rd and the rpm dropped to 3k from 5k and slowly climbed up. After this I noticed a lot of burning smell coming from the engine. When I got home I opened up the hood and trying to find where the smell coming from. It came from the engine where directly under the fuel injectors. I'm not sure if I broke something by the wheel spin and hop, is the smell coming from the clutch or something that might be broken? I'm still having the stock clutch so maybe it didn't last. I'll try to drive it later when it's not raining.
Anyone especially with FWD have experience with this problem?

Any input will be great, thanks!

No, so far the clutch is still holding good doesn't slip at all after I put in the EVO3 turbo and all supporting mods except FMIC for more than a month. Just worried I broke something big like tranny or axles. I might just want to change the clutch with all the new power so if it's the clutch then I'm relaxed. Yes it smells horrible, so is it right that tranny or other drivetrain parts don't make that kind of smell?

Yeah, Axles and the such make lots of unpleasant noise. Plus, if there was a problem with something in that nature chances are you wouldn't be driving. Best guess is you smoked your clutch. Is there any other symptoms that you notice, or is it running fine.

When I was driving it back home it was fine, I didn't try to drive hard as I thought something was broken. Well if it's the clutch was smoked like you guys suggested do I have to replace it now or wait until it slips?

Is the smell still there? People burn their clutches up all the time, it just burns it but doesnt kill it. As long as your car drives fine now and the smell is gone you should be fine.

Yeah the car drives fine now but there's still a little bit of smell I think it's from the morning. Thanks a lot for the input guys, I just kind of freaked out thinking I might have screwed up something. You'll hate raining if you have a FWD like I do.

im surprised nobody has called you stupid yet for racing in the rain agains a "bimmer"
*cough cough* (i have nothing else to bring to this thread)

No I did not speed shift, I was trying to slip to gain as much traction as possible, but the tires still broke loose in 2nd gear above 5k rpm. Yes I know FWD + raining is crazy, but sometimes just can't resist it like in my case the guy gave me a highbeam flash and thought he could take me for lunch. Not going to say maybe next time because it's raining.
