This morning i started hearing a ticking from my engine as i drove it (not under load) i began knocking and it happens on every gear at above 2500 rpm (only cause link is set to ignore before that mark, if not im sure if would show sooner. Now im thinking something bad with block. But can it be bad lifters also?

You should be able to listen for it. If it happen over 2500 RPM only, it could be the start of Rod Knock. Easiest way to tell (I just had that issue, then my oil pump went) is to listen while driving. You will hear it 2500-3000 just cruising, will disappear under boost, but will happen for a split second when you shift. Link has given you a reason to check, now you will need the ears.

Mine only knocked as above, never at idle. It did it for 6 months, then the bolt for the oil pump/timing sprocket backed off and seized the pump and took out the head.

Same here ... rod knock is approaching....esp when you add fuel and putting power on top of the piston(s).

That knock is the connecting rod slamming into the crank journal on every power stroke. Pretty soon, those connecting rod bearings are going to "spin" in the connecting rod and destroy everything in sight including the crankshaft's journal.

Best drop the pan and check promptly.

i would check the rod bearings i just had this happen very slightly at 3000 rpm and then i was being very nice trying to make it the last 3 miles home and it tossed my bearing out and bent my rod. unless you want the same issue id check quickly

well me and my tech spend the better part of the afternoon just trying to pin point the source and its definitely coming from the top driver side. (we did noise test all around the engine and put it on the lift to do noise test from bottom and the bottom is a hell of a lot quieter than the top.) i took the cover to see if i had any fallen rockets and its all in good order. but dont really have a way of seen what lifter be the issue. or if its multiple. now the lifters are revised not new so perhaps they hit their limit. if so 3g lifters are going in.

my machinist that did the work on the engine also had a listen to it and he thinks its my lifters getting stuck as well.

now one thing i forgot to mentioned is that the oil level was a lil low the night before and i didnt have any synthetic around so i put a quart of regular 10w-30 into it . the day later i have that noice. both tech and machinist told me to do an oil change and go back to my synthetic oil (mobile 1) and see if that does anything.

If it is a lifter then it is weird that one would make that sound at a higher RPM. I would look more towards the bearings.
the noise is there even at idle it just increases with rev. (i would assume lifters whould follow that pattern.)

but if i were to drop the pan and inspect the bearings. what am i looking for? is it going to be noticeably loose round the crank? (never dealt with this before so its a learning experience for me.

sry if i seem reluctant im just trying to hope for the best and im a little stressed. im just trying to fix this before my tune date.
witch is in less than two weeks and if its a bearing i gata drop the entire engine again.

If it is lifters, one lifter could have a flatten top on it which will increase the distance from the top of the lifter to the bottom of the rocker arm...seen that a few times.

True, do the 3G lifters, but bleed them first so the will fully collapse before inserting them in, otherwise you'll be seeing valves kiss pistons real quick.

If you drop the pan, roll the crank where two journals are at their lowest. Then grab a connecting rod and see if you can move the rod up and down. Repeat with the other two journals.

If any play on any four rods, that bearing is toast and the crank journal is scarred.

Ok well i bought my oil and filter and i took a look at the bottom and no.2 bearing is spun

update: ITS FIXED!!!

my machine shop decided they were going to become my sponsors and so did my autoshop so i got all parts free and a lift and tools to use to get the job done. the bearing didnt do any damage to the crank nor the rod so all i needed is to buff it out and reassemble.

Very nice of the shop to sponsor you! Aquick way to check what's going on inside your motor next time is to take your oil filter off, cut the metal shell off of it ( tin snips not a saw to reduce filings) then pull out the guts and spread it out. If there are silver bits in it, that would be bearings.
