Did ACT revise their street disc?

Yeah its the sprung one. I have it adjusted now so that if I mash the pedal really hard against the carpet there is just barely a clicking sound from the clutch fingers. I never push the pedal that far driving so I figured its ok. It's getting better now that its good and broken in as far as really grabby but it's still tough to take of without the whole car shuttering. How did you adjust it to grab kind of high but not hit the fingers? I think I might put the street disc I have in it so maybe its a bit more streetable but that won't be for at least a month. I actually got shipped the clutch net disc. The springs are smaller and they are encased much more, making it have a thinner center section. I didn't install it though because I planned on sending it back.

On another note do you have any driveline noise with your six puck? On engine braking there is almost a metal on metal sound in my car. I can't decide if its a problem or not. It sounds like a real fast rattle. Obviously it's tough for me to describe.

hey brother hows ## act disk working for you?

Grabs like a mofo. No problems though. It will still hit the fingers if I mash it down. It got to be a little chattery so I revved it up and slipped it really hard a few times and its better now. How about you?

I know this thread isn't new, but I need to know is there any way to tell if a person has a new revised or old style clutch disk, without installing it?

I ask because I purchased my pressure plate and clutch disk from two diferent vendors and want to make sure there compatible with each other first.

Yeah I motion this as well as I will be placing a order in the next week for a new CD. I was thinking of a 6puck disk but after reading all this I may reconsider getting it or the street disk from ACT. How can we tell if we have a newer PP as well? I purchased my 2600 PP last March and disk and they work fine but with me having the tranny off I am installing a new CD.

The new pressure plate diaphragm fingers have a stiffening rib stamped into them where the old type were just flat . Here's pics of the new street disc and both new and old type pressure plates.

If you do have the old P.P. you could always buy a SBR disk. I'm using there street disk with no problems.

Their friction disc will work with your old plate.

just spoke with SBR and Joe said that the NEW SBR clutch is not a comp. clutch anymore.
the old SBR and NEW SBR clutch as well as the Comp. Clutch are built to the same SIZE specs as the ACT street disk.

So ANY of them will work, it just needs to be adjusted correctly.

Well apparently I have the older style pressure plate, but I don't know about the street disc? I have a small pic if there are any obvious differences. I don't actually have the clutch on me, it's at the shop where I'm getting the work done.

I can't re-upload the pic since I already made a thread. Here is the thread with pics (last pic on beginning post) -

i have the new style act 6 puck sprung disk in my car right now but i would like to try some one else's ( i think mine warped) so i'm looking to buy a used new style act 6 puck sprung disk with the yellow springs ( might also need a 2600 pressure plate to)..email me here if u got one [email protected] thanks

Ok, well I got my car back and the drivetrain seems fine. The clutch height is a bit low but not excessively low. I'm going to try adjusting it a higher point because I don't like it grabbing low. I'll re-bleed the system just to make sure there isn't any air in the line.

I'm thinking it just needs to be re-bled because the pedal is quite soft; softer then when I was on the entire stock drivetrain. But other than that it's fine.
