I bought a used 2g depowered steering rack with all the holes welded shut for my 2g gst manual. I really like manual steering and heard this is the best way to do it.

I'm looking to do this myself. I think this is a very hard job. I just want to hear some opinions if this is possible for me to do this. I got a estimate to get it done for 650 with alignment.

im thinking the worst situation would happen if i did this wrong because the steering and stuff is very important. Let me know what you think. thanks a lot.

To get it out. I think you need about 1-2 hours. Need to remove the axles that goto the wheel. Fluid lines, the sway bar i believe. Could be done by yourself.
I did it with my dad though, took out the whole cross member that holds the steering rack because it was ripped.

Any more opinions? Really appeciated. I got the tech article already. Just want to see who did it and what they think.

Its really not that hard to get to. Like stated above, pull the axle, all the power steering stuff, take the tie rods out of the spindles, unbolt the rack from the cross member, slide it out, rinse and repeat in reverse.

Then take it to get it aligned, and save yourself a bunch of money. Plan on it taking a day in case you run into any problems and to give yourself time so you dont have to rush and mess something up.
