My Dejon UICP replaces the TB elbow, so it is a 2-1/4" pipe with a flange welded to the end which bolts up to the TB.

Well, the weld at the flange is leaking (about 45* of it seems to be leaking/making bubbles ;)).

I recently went through the task of replacing the TB gaskets where I had a boost leak, so I don't want to pull the four bolts out and fux with the UICP and reintroduce a TB gasket leak.

Any ideas of a way to stop this leak without pulling the TB off again?

The leak wasn't horrible. I was holding 20psi, but it leaked down maybe 1psi/second when I removed pressure from the tester valve.

On a positive note, I just successfully replace my injector insulators and o-rings thus fixing the boost leak at the insulators. Despite following the fuel line depressurization protocol, I still got sprayed in the face with gas when I pulled the high pressure fuel line . My hair still smells like gas.:thumb:

Thanks!

Well, JB weld is good to 600F and you should not see that at the TB. I suppose you could try to coat the seam of the weld and see how that works. I wouldnt JB the elbow to the intake manifold though ROFL :p Anyway, I've had good luck with JB on some load bearing items so I dont see why that wouldnt work if you dont want to remove the uicp from the tb. it would be quick n easy, but wont be pretty.

edit: dam dialup, stapl3 beat me to it! :)

The actual welds are leaking? JBWeld them. If it's leaking at the gasket, you'll have to pull it off and use a new gasket or make one with gasket-in-a-tube or cut one out of the gasket paper.

I made my own out of gasket paper and worked like a charm...no more leaks.

It's at the actual weld. The Dejon unit is a pipe that is welded to a square plate. The plate has a hole the diameter of the outside of the pipe in the middle and 4 smaller holes around it that match the TB bolt pattern. It looks like they slide the pipe through the hole in the plate and weld it on the TB side of the plate, then they machine the plate/tube/weld down to a planar surface, so you don't see any sign of the weld (very tidy/neat looking part). It looks like they didn't have sufficient penetration of the weld or machined too much off. Either way, when it was machined down, some holes were apparently exposed. I didn't see any when I looked at it, and I would have hoped that the copper gasket maker stuff I put on the gasket would have blocked those holes, but I guess it didn't.

It's a nice, black, powder-coated part, so gray JB weld might look ugly.

It was a pain in the ass to coat the gaskets in that copper stuff, because they are tacky as all hell, but I may end up pulling the damned thing apart again.

I'm still wondering if a 1psi/sec boost leak at 20psi is enough to worry about. It won't suprise me if it is, but if some guru tells me it's okay, then I'm done :p.

Thanks again.
